Old-World Charm
The Ritz-Carlton, Philadelphia was an obvious choice for couple Lisa Reynolds and Vasili Barbounis, who were married on June 23, 2012. “We were drawn to the neoclassic style of the building itself,” says Lisa. The enormous three-story lobby recalls the Pantheon, and the elegant marble ballroom and its exquisite chandeliers had an old-world feel the couple was looking for.
Philly’s cobblestone streets provide picturesque photo moments for the bride and bridesmaids.
Lisa carried a tiny picture of her late grandparents, which she tied to her bouquet.
“I’ve always loved the dinner scene in ‘The King and I’ and wanted our wedding to feel like a state dinner that could as easily be in 1950 as 2012,” says Lisa; tables reflect a vintage garden feel.
The “perfect pair” is a running detail throughout the celebration: Guests arrive to find table assignments at the base of an arrangement filled with floating pears.
As a sweet ending, the cake topper features two pears made of golden sugar.
