Couples seeking an open-air wedding that makes the most of nature's charms might take a cue from Katie and Chris Jones. The newlyweds cite a deep connection to Lake Tahoe as their reason for choosing the area as their venue, and they hoped to show guests the best of its awe-inspiring beauty.
Chris and Katie had fallen in love with the thoughtful service and rustic luxury of The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe over the years — but it was its spectacular outdoor venue options and majestic views that sealed the deal.
The bride was especially inspired by The Woods, a grassy area of the property surrounded by tall pines. With tree stumps, votive candles and burlap accents, the ambiance oozed natural elegance.
The mountain setting inspired sophisticated rustic details. “The setting was so beautiful itself that it was easy to take advantage of,” Katie says.
Katie and Chris were intent on an outdoor celebration. Their wedding was the first tented reception at the property — guests enjoyed crab cakes and an ice-cream bar from beneath a sailcloth tent. The cherry on top? The property surprised the couple with a stay in the Presidential Suite, overlooking the mountains.
