We checked into The Ritz-Carlton, Boston Common to celebrate our 20th anniversary, but no less than 20 minutes later, we received an emergency call from our daughter. Naturally, we decided to cancel our stay, and Meghan, the Front Desk Manager, understood completely and did not charge us. We rushed home only to find it was a false alarm, and everything was fine. Just when we began feeling sorry for ourselves for missing our 20th anniversary at The Ritz-Carlton, your driver pulled up at our front door armed with a bottle of champagne, two glasses, a box of freshly baked cookies and two luxurious robes with a note that read, ‘We decided to bring your anniversary to you!’ Nothing could have been nicer.

I found myself in Doha in desperate need of a traditional Scottish kilt for an official event. After asking my concierge, Rocellii, at Sharq Village and Spa if there was any way of finding one, she expressed regret that there were no kilts for sale in Qatar. But this was no ordinary concierge. Setting out to creatively solve my problem, Rocellii found images of kilts on the Internet, had her team comb the local markets for the right fabrics and then brought me to a tailor to stitch my very own kilt. I was astounded at how the concierge team went out of its way to assist me. There is no other place I’ll stay in Doha.
During our stay at The Ritz-Carlton, Sanya, my wife and I brought our family to Sofia, the Italian restaurant at the hotel. Our children, being children, grew restless and bored. Our server, Amy, and the manager, Alessandro, noticed this and came up with a great idea. They brought our boys into the kitchen, offered them aprons, and then the chef taught them how to make their own special pizzas by hand. The boys were thrilled at being part of a Pizza Master Class. When their pizzas came out, they sat down again and invited Alessandro to join them. The boys were so proud, and we all loved the entire experience.
Our daughter suffered an accident three years ago that rendered her a paraplegic. During our visit to The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach, your staff set up a special area for her by the pool. But it was the extra efforts by Recreation Supervisors Carlos and Chris that made her stay truly special. She had said that she wanted to touch the ocean again. I don’t know how they did it, but your staff managed to find a special wheelchair that could carry a person through sand. One morning, our daughter woke up to a note that read, ‘Are you ready for the beach?’ With her special chair and your staff escorting her, she was able to finally touch the blue ocean water. It was utter joy for her and complete gratitude from us. We will never forget it.
My pregnant wife and I had dinner at The Ritz-Carlton, Georgetown. Our server, Steve, took great care of us as we enjoyed dinner. But he took special notice of my wife, who avoided the blue cheese and the wine. At dessert, Steve worked with the chef to create a very special surprise—Dill Pickle and Vanilla ice cream—the quintessential craving of a pregnant woman! Delighted, my wife dug into the dessert, and we asked for seconds.
