Placed on the bluffs overlooking the Potomac River, the village of Georgetown in Washington, D.C. presents a picturesque example of an early-American town. Settled in 1691, Georgetown was originally populated for its convenience to the profitable Potomac River. By the late 18th century, Georgetown had quickly become a thriving, East Coast center for trade, fashion, art and culture.
