Designed by Nature How can we walk up walls like geckos, clean our buildings the way leaves clean themselves and create color as vivid as the butterflies without using any dyes? Explore the ideas of biomimicry and sustainability to get inspired to make a better future. Mondays, 2:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. (Ages 8-Adult) Fish Frenzy Snorkel Learn all about the adaptations that make fish effective predators and their strategies to avoid becoming lunch! Snorkel and observe their tricks firsthand while recording your own observations on an underwater slate. Thursdays, 2:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. (Ages 8-Adult) Focus on Photography We practice the motto “Leave only footprints, take only pictures” while snapping shots of the tropical wildlife and small wonders that surround us at a park about 15 minutes drive from the resort. Afterwards, Ambassadors get to crop and enhance photos on a CD to take home as an eco-friendly souvenir. Wednesdays, 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. (Ages 8-15)
Frogtastic Fun Come hop our way for some fun and games as we leap into the world of fascinating frogs. Help us find our local friends on a night walk and explore the many mysterious and crazy facts from these amphibious animals. Fridays 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. (Ages 4-12) Have You Ever Seen A Blue Iguana? Grand Cayman is home to the endemic and endangered Cayman blue iguana, found nowhere else in the world. We learn all about this fascinating species and the efforts to save them as we take an exclusive, behind the scenes tour of the blue iguana breeding facility at the Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park, a 45 minute drive from the resort. Into the Wild Can you imagine being the first to colonize Grand Cayman? Join us on our journey to square one and learn the basics of island survival. Crack coconuts, build boats and discover what early island life was really like. Tuesdays, 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. (Ages 8-15)
Lights, Camera, Take ActionShare your own ideas on being an Ambassador through a video production as we research, write, direct and star in our own public service announcements. At the end you will have a DVD of your own to share your message with your friends and family back home. Thursdays, 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. (Ages 8-15)
Mangrove Kayak Adventure Mangroves are the forests of the sea. Explore and examine this beautiful ecosystem, where the curious roots of the mangrove trees grow right out the saltwater providing a nursery for reef creatures and marine birds. As we travel in double kayaks in shallow protected waters we experience one of the strangest gardens on the planet—the world of the upside-down jellyfish. Wednesdays, 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. (Ages 10+)
Night Snorkel With flashlights and trained Naturalists, we take the curious and adventurous on an excursion of a lifetime to discover the fascinating world of the reef at night. Previous snorkeling experience required. Tuesdays, 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. (Ages 10+)
Sea Floor Submarine Adventure The Atlantis XI Submarine was specifically designed for underwater sightseeing excursions. The smooth ride and clarity of the water amazes as we explore Grand Cayman’s underwater marine park to depths over 100 feet and explore the mysterious deep reefs off Grand Cayman. Fridays, 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. (Ages 8+)
Shipwreck Exploration SnorkelLearn about the shipwrecks that litter Cayman’s reefs before heading out to see one with your own eyes! Fridays, 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. (Ages 8+)
The Mechanics of Botanics Come dig in and explore everything plants have to offer. Learn why we can’t survive without our plant friends and how we turn our food garbage into a garden. Join us in making our own dyes from fruits and vegetables as we create colorful tie-dyed bandanas for you to take home. Saturdays, 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (Ages 4-12)
Underwater Photography Snorkel (age 8+)Learn how to use digital cameras with waterproof housings to capture your view of the underwater world. Once we return from our underwater adventure, digitally enhance your favorite shots and use them to create a moving slideshow to take back home. Mondays, 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. (Ages 8+) Waterworks Discover the differences between salt and fresh water as we play in the sea. As we conduct different experiments, we learn the importance of water and how everyone, everywhere affects the ocean. All kids will be outfitted with a life jacket. Wednesdays, 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. (Ages 4-9)
