Mangroves are the forests of the sea. In this natural jungle-gym, strange roots extend into the water providing a nursery for reef creatures and marine birds. As we travel in double kayaks in shallow protected waters we experience one of the strangest gardens on the planet - the world of the upside-down jellyfish, relatives of corals.
Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Night Snorkel (age 10+)
Nightlife in the coral city is as strange and different as it is in a human city. Many reef residents are nocturnal, never seen by snorkelers during the day. Many fish active during the day put on their pajamas (change color) and go to sleep on the reef at night. At night, many corals extend delicate tentacles to catch shrimp and worms that emerge under the cover of darkness. With flashlights and trained Naturalists we take the intrepid and curious on an adventure of a lifetime to discover the fascinating world of the reef at night.
