Guided Mountain Bike Tours

Join our Recreation Department on a guided mountain bike ride along our costal trail that runs parallel to the Pacific Ocean while enjoying some of the best views Northern California has to offer. Our guides will talk about our local area and the history along scenic stops.

May 3: In the Kitchen with Fresh Pasta, Peas and Fava Beans
In the Kitchen with Chef Tanaka, a series of monthly, demonstration-style cooking class highlighting seasonal fare sourced from the renowned farms surrounding the coastal resort.
Peas and Fava beans start coming into season in early spring and are usually available throughout the summer. The class will feature the first crop of peas and fava beans from Farmer John of Daylight Farms in Half Moon Bay. Chef Tanaka will also demonstrate the art of making fresh pasta for the home chef and then, using the peas and fava beans, create several a light summer dishes.

In the Kitchen events are $85 per person, inclusive of tax and gratuity and are held in Navio from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The program includes a three-course lunch with wine paired by Petra Polakovicova, the resort’s sommelier.

Wine Blending Workshop and Luncheon
Saturday, May 3, 2014 from 12 to 2 p.m.
Become a winemaker for a day. Swirl, sniff, and taste glasses of single varietal cabernet sauvignon, merlot, and cabernet franc that you will blend to create a personal crafted full and half bottle of wine. Our blending guide will lead you through an education of grape varietals and a blending session using graduated cylinders and beakers. You will be a hands-on winemaker by bottling and corking the bottles yourself. Following a reception lunch, there will be a blind tasting of each personal crafted wine where you can rate the best and be crowned Vintner of the Day. Pre-payment is required in advance. The resort’s Give Back Getaway program provides the opportunity to sort, package and distribute food to in-need families in Half Moon Bay through Coastside Hope. The program takes place the third Thursday of each month at the Coastside Hope facilities. Sorting and packaging of food is from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. with distribution following from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Guests can choose to participate for either two or four hours.

June 7: In the Kitchen with Tuna and Heirloom Tomatoes
In the Kitchen with Chef Tanaka, a series of monthly, demonstration-style cooking class highlighting seasonal fare sourced from the renowned farms surrounding the coastal resort.
Heirloom tomato season runs from May through October with different varietals coming to peak at different times of the season. In the Kitchen will showcase the many ways in which the tomatoes can be used, other than just in a salad. Chef Tanaka will incorporate Yellow Fin Tuna, which is available in May in Hawaii, into the class to create an amazing pairing of tuna and tomatoes.

Each vintage shows Chateau St. Jean's passion for crafting wines that express the best of Sonoma. Founded in 1973, they became a pioneer in the development of single-vineyard wines. Winemaker Margo Van Staaveren is only the fourth winemaker in Chateau St. Jean history.

The resort’s Give Back Getaway program provides the opportunity to sort, package and distribute food to in-need families in Half Moon Bay through Coastside Hope. The program takes place the third Thursday of each month at the Coastside Hope facilities. Sorting and packaging of food is from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. with distribution following from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Guests can choose to participate for either two or four hours.

Navio presents a monthly Vintner Dinner that features distinguished local wineries with a four-course dinner created by Ritz-Carlton Chefs. A vintner representative will pair each course with a specialty wine and discuss each varietal. October’s Vintner Dinner is with Far Niente, established by the partners of Far Niente in 1997, Nickel & Nickel is focused on producing single vineyard Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon from the appellation’s most significant AVAs. A small collection of single-vineyard Chardonnay, Merlot, Syrah and Zinfandel complements the portfolio.
