Its lush parks contain 900 species of trees, palms and other plants, and it's perhaps most known for its beautiful orchids cared for by Easter Airlines Orchid.  Key Biscayne was actually the Zoo’s original home, when in 1948 three monkeys, a goat and two black bears that were purchased for $270 from a small road show stranded near Miami. These six animals were the beginning of the Crandon Park Zoo, which grew and gained recognition worldwide for its collection of exotic animals, including an aardvark, two Asian elephants, a white tiger, a pair of Indian rhinos and two Bald Eagle hatchlings. In 1980, the zoo relocated to Miami-Dade County and renamed Miami Metro Zoo; however, the resort is still home to many iguanas that roam the grounds freely and are part of the breathtaking experience at nearby Crandon Golf Course.

Anchoring the beautiful Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park, the Key Biscayne Cape Florida lighthouse is the second oldest in Florida. Built in 1825, it is the only lighthouse in the U.S. to ever have suffered an Indian attack during the Seminole Indian Wars. The lighthouse has since been restored twice and the 95-foot white-brick tower (complete with 109 steps) boasts incredible sweeping views from Coconut Grove, Miami, South Beach and the Atlantic Ocean. Park rangers lead guided tours, where visitors can also tour the replica of the keeper’s quarters and view movies about the rich history of the landmark and island.

Monkey Jungle is considered an innovator of many of the concepts currently seen in the design of zoological parks. It is home to nearly 400 primates, most running free on a 30 acre reserve and is one of the few protected habitats for endangered primates in the United States and the only one that the general public can explore. A total of 30 species of primates are represented at Monkey Jungle including gibbons, guenons, spider monkeys and colobus.

Embark and an airboat tour; catch exhibits of beautiful birds; snakes and other reptiles; or watch an exhilarating Wildlife Show, complete with alligator wrestling at Gator Park, located in the Heart of the Florida Everglades.

Established in 1936 as “The Parrot Jungle,” the popular park is home for 1,100 tropical birds, 2,000 varieties of plants and flowers, and arguably the best trained bird show in the world. Jungle Island is also home to several mammals, primates, reptiles and fish, including Hercules, the Liger; Peanut and Pumpkin, orangutan twins; and Hank, the largest crocodilian in the Western hemisphere.

A 38-acre park just a five-minute drive from the resort. Visitors will enjoy its many aquariums and exhibits and eight different marine shows, including the Flipper Dolphin show with movie-star dolphins performing tricks on the original Flipper television set and an action-packed show with Lolita, the Killer Whale. The park’s Dolphin Harbor offers swimming with the dolphins programs tailored to both children and adults. In addition, the Miami Seaquarium is a rehabilitation center for the endangered Manatee and Sea Turtle, as well as other sick and injured species until they are well enough to be released back into the wild.

The museum hosts exhibits on a range of topics from environment, sciences to cultural heritage, and is home to South Florida’s largest natural history collection. Additionally, the museum entails a 230-seat planetarium and wildlife center.

Miami Children’s Museum offers hundreds of bilingual, interactive exhibits; programs and classes and learning materials related to arts, culture, community and communication; and the loveable mascot, MiChiMu, who engages children with his curiosity and playful attitude.

Miami Art Museum (MAM) serves one of the most diverse and fastest-growing regions in the United States, where a confluence on North and Latin American cultures add vibrancy and texture to the civil landscape. Its far-ranging vision is expressed in the breath and depth of its exhibition program, from major solo exhibition of artists such as Ana Mendieta and Vic Muniz, to “Miami in Transition,” in which Miami-based artists responded to the city’s development, MAM’s broad curatorial mandate accommodates wide-ranging artistic approaches.

A national historic landmark, the extraordinary European-inspired estate includes a main house filled with art and furnishings, ten acres of gardens on Biscayne Bay, a hardwood hammock (native forest), and an historic village. This breathtaking museum offers daily guided tours, as well as special programs, evening talks and performances. The Moonlit Garden tours, held once a month, are not to be missed.

The Wolfsonian-FIU is a museum located in the heart of historic Miami Beach, within easy walking distance of the world-famous Art Deco hotels. Its fascinating collection of objects from the modern era (1885-1945) focuses on how art and design shape and reflect the human experience. The museum further engages the visitor by complementing its collection with thought-provoking discussions of the context and connection among its objects.

Crandon Park is known for its beautiful, natural scenery that wraps around a top-ranking public golf course. Renovated in 1993, Crandon Park also has a world-renowned tennis center that hosts the Sony Ericsson Open, the fifth largest tennis tournament in the world.

A must-see destination while on Key Biscayne, this stunning state park is home to one of the country's Top 10 beaches, eight fishing platforms, and a lighthouse that's the oldest man-made structure in south Miami-Dade (built in 1825 and the only lighthouse in U.S. to suffer an Indian attack). The whole family can enjoy the park in one of the eighteen covered pavilions that provide sheltered picnic areas that overlook the Atlantic Ocean, Biscayne Bay and Stiltsville - a collection of historic homes built on stilts in the middle of the ocean.

Located on Key Biscayne, Diver’s Paradise offers daily dive trips, private night diving tours and excursions to more that 30 wreck sites and 25 natural reefs. The Cliff Drysdale Tennis Center, located on the right upon entering The Ritz-Carlton, Key Biscayne/Grand Bay community, is the largest tennis center of any Ritz-Carlton in the world. A team of seasoned pros offers daily clinics for all ages and skill levels, game-matching services with local tennis club members and private lessons with tennis legends Cliff Drysdale and Owen Davidson. Each spring, the resort and tennis center become the headquarters for tennis pros and fans alike during the Sony-Ericsson Open, which takes just a few miles down the road at the Crandon Park Tennis Center.

Miami Flightseeing offers guided flight tours covering more than 80 miles of Miami including the city’s beaches and shorelines, Downtown skylines, South Beach, Key Biscayne, Biscayne Bay and beyond.
