The Biggest Show on Earth
Sometimes called the Whale Capital of the West, scientists believe that Dana Point may serve as a reference “landmark” and be a prominent gathering spot for whales. Blue whales, the largest mammal to EVER inhabit the earth, feed, mate, and give birth to their calves from May through October in Southern California waters. From November through April, gray whales migrate along the coast between the calm, warm waters of Southern California and Baja to calve during winter months and feed in the cold Arctic seas during summer months, bringing these majestic whales through Dana Point. Experience the natural wonder that comes with seeing these whales while going out to sea on a chartered whale watching excursion. Monday and Thursday, 1 - 4 p.m., Saturday, 9 a.m. - noon and 4 - 7 p.m.; $110 per person

Forests Under the Sea
Through hundreds of years of carefully observing kelp forests, scientists have come to understand that the kelp forest is a complex underwater community whose inhabitants depend on each other, much like humans do in our own communities. Join us for a snorkeling excursion as we visit the cities under the sea and discover how all life is connected. Tuesday and Thursday 9 a.m. - noon, Saturday, 1 - 4 p.m. $100 per person

Life Between the Tides
Discover the teeming life that makes its home where life is hardest — within the unique margin between land and sea in tide pools and the sandy beach. Sunday, 9 a.m. - noon or 1 - 4 p.m. depending on the tides;, $80 per person (youth and adults)

Sea Hike
Join us for either a sea hike along Strands Beach into the Dana Point Preserve to discover plants and animals native to the Southern California coast, or explore another local trail to take in the fresh air, natural habitat and stunning ocean views. Along the way, learn about their adaptations to the environment and understand the effects of the surrounding watershed. Sunday, 1 - 4 p.m. depending on the tides or Friday, 9 a.m. - noon; $80 per person

Wet and Wild Waves
Learn about waves, tides, and how to catch a perfect wave using Ambassadors ripple tank. Look for longshore drift and rip currents as you walk to Salt Creek Beach. Then hit the waves and have fun boogie boarding! Tuesday, 9 a.m. - noon; $90 per person
