Enjoy the finest outdoor adventure while discovering the flora and fauna on Northstar Resort’s mountain. Nature hikes at Northstar Resort can be as advanced or as leisurely as you make them. Free scenic lift rides for sightseeing and hiking are offered daily at Northstar Resort through Labor Day weekend. Brush shoulders with old growth red fir and white pines or enjoy beautiful views of Lake Tahoe. Leashed dogs are welcome on several chair lifts and all hiking trails. Be sure and pack a lunch and bring plenty of water. In addition to the variety of trails located on the mountain, guests visiting the resort can also take advantage of the Tompkins Memorial Trails. This trail system not only runs through the resort, but connects in to trails that travel through the Martis Valley. Martis Valley trails cover flat meadows and gentle hills and offer a diversity of nature-viewing opportunities. Kings Beach Recreation Area – Kings Beach, CA - Located in the heart of Kings Beach off of Hwy 28, this beach features basketball, and volleyball courts. The beach is flat with lots of sand and good swimming. Weekly Farmer's Market on Tuesday, Thursday concerts and movies on Tuesday evening. Commons Beach – Tahoe City, CA - Located behind the fire station in Tahoe City, this beach is home to free weekly concerts and movies throughout the summer. An extensive children’s playground and a grassy area are uphill from the sandy shoreline. The water is shallow, but good for young children to wade in. There are no concessions at the shows, picnic and bbq’ing are allowed. There is also a weekly morning farmer’s market in the beach parking lot. Boat rentals are available at the Tahoe City Marina which is less than a ¼ mile from this beach. Also located at this marina are sailing charters for those who want the quiet and serenity of gliding across Lake Tahoe under wind & sail.
