The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe is situated mid-mountain at Northstar California ski resort and features ski-in, ski-out access with mountain services. Complimentary transportation is provided between the nearby Village at Northstar and The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe. The Village at Northstar centers around a 9,000 square foot outdoor skating rink that is surrounded by fire pits, cabana seating and a variety of shops and restaurants. True North, the on-site ski shop in The Ritz-Carlton features premier brands of men's and women's ski and fashion apparel, performance skis and boots, footwear, extensive eye wear, and accessories for outdoor recreation and relaxation. The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe provides ski valet services slopeside and upon check-in for every guest. In the ski valet area, equipment is stored for guests. The resort’s ski valets assist each guest with their boots and escort them to the slope-side terrace for ski-in, ski-out access to Northstar's lifts. When guests return to this exceptional ski hotel in Lake Tahoe, the ski valet will retrieve their equipment and store it overnight.

Host of Grand Prix Olympic Team Qualifying Event
Northstar will serve as host to the second stop of the Sprint U.S. Snowboarding & Visa U.S. Freeskiing Grand Prix January 9-12, 2014. This Olympic team qualifying event will be televised on NBC, and will offer visitors the opportunity to watch first-hand as top freeskiing and snowboarding athletes compete for their spot on the 2014 U.S. Olympic teams headed to Sochi, Russia in February. Events will include Snowboard Half Pipe, and new Olympic disciplines Snowboarding Slopestyle, and Freeskiing Half Pipe and Slopestyle.
Enhancements to the Mountain Experience
- Visitors will find upscale shops in the Village at Northstar including the addition of Icebreaker, the pioneer in natural merino wool apparel.
- The Big Springs Gondola received a complete makeover in advance of the winter season. Guests will now enjoy a comfortable ride to mid-mountain in refurbished cabins that feature new doors and windows, cushioning in the seats, upgraded ski and snowboard racks that accommodate the newest technology, and a new exterior.
- On the mountain, trail widening and tree thinning completed in the Promised Land ski pod over the summer will make for improved access to some of the resort’s most popular tree skiing and riding.
