The Ritz-Carlton, Powerscourt is a place where children are welcome., from the dedicated kids check-in desk in the lobby of the hotel, to The Kids Games Room, a wonderful entertainment hideaway.

Designed by Kirton Playworks, specialists in creating children’s facilities, The Kids Games Room at The Ritz-Carlton, Powerscourt is located on the second floor of the hotel, and offers Table Air Hockey, Table Tennis, Fuss ball, Wii and Active Dance.

Use of The Kids Games Room is complimentary and available to children aged 6 to 14 who are registered as guests at The Ritz-Carlton, Powerscourt. Use of these facilities is at their own risk and children must be under parental supervision.

A Night at the Movies: Snuggle in for the night and enjoy one of your favorite movies in the fantastic surrounds of your guest room. The Ritz-Carlton, Powerscourt is a place where families and particularly children are very welcome indeed. From the moment our junior guests arrive, they will delight in the activities and opportunities available to them. Our dedicated Ritz-Kids Check-in Desk invites children to actively participate in their hotel stay as they register with our Front Office Team. Steps allow them to climb up to check-in personally and learn about the Games Room and other amenities which they can enjoy during their stay.

Children’s Swimming Hours

The Ritz-Carlton, Powerscourt is home to an extensive spa and welcomes children to swim daily from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. & 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Cycling, Powerscourt Gardens & River Walk

Powerscourt Estate and County Wicklow offer an abundance of healthy outdoor activities for children. Take a stroll through the world-famous Powerscourt House and Gardens where children are enchanted by the colorful flower beds, ponds and statuary and in particular with the Pet Cemetery. Formal headstones mark the last resting place of much loved pets belonging to the Wingfield and Slazenger families. This quiet slope beneath mature trees is believed to contain the largest pets’ cemetery in any private Irish garden.

If you wish to take a more active approach to the day, why not take a stroll or a bicycle to The River Walk, a private and hidden gem, deep within the walls of Powerscourt Estate? This is one of Ireland’s most charming and secluded places to explore. Its ancient and unspoiled beauty is carefully protected and only a very select few are invited to enjoy the splendor that lies beyond the gates to this very charming and secret space. The real beauty and essence of The River Walk is found in the many secret woodland trails that radiate from the main pathway and which are very safe and easy to explore. Access to the River Walk can be arranged through the Hotel Concierge and guests can travel by foot, bicycle or golf buggy. For a more comprehensive visit to The River Walk, we recommend ordering a picnic from the Hotel Concierge so that you and your family can enjoy delicious food, enhanced by fresh air, tranquility and the sounds of the river.

Horse Riding

Also located within 10 minutes of the estate is Brennanstown Equestrian Centre which welcomes children aged 5 and over to enjoy a variety of equestrian pursuits. Please speak to the Hotel Concierge to arrange a lesson.

Dublin City

Dublin and all of its delights is located only 25 minutes from Powerscourt Estate. Dublin has over 50 visitor attractions and endless events to keep children entertained. There are interesting museums with workshops specially tailored for children and for the more ambitious, there are energetic activities such as karting, bowling and sea thrills.

Tara's Palace

Located at Powerscourt House, a 5 minute walk from the hotel, guests are invited to delight in the wonders of Tara's Palace, undoubtedly one of the world’s most magnificent Dolls Palaces. Inspired by Sir Neville Wilkinson’s celebrated Titania’s Palace of 1907, Tara’s 22 room Palace has been meticulously constructed by some of Ireland’s finest craftsmen and has taken over two decades to complete. Designed and built to one-twelfth scale it encapsulates the grandeur and elegance of Ireland’s three great 18th Century Mansions, Castletown House, Leinster House and Carton House. Paintings by leading Irish Artists, including Tom Ryan R.H.A. and miniature furnishing masterpieces by Fred Early, Paul Geoghegan, Michael Walton, John Hodgson and others adorn the State Rooms and private apartments. The magnificent marble Cantilever staircase is by Christopher O’Neill & Sons, while rare examples of glass, porcelain, silver and ivory in miniature have been collected from around the world. The museum is open daily from Monday to Saturday from 10am – 5pm and on Sunday from 12 noon – 5pm. The museum is closed on 25th & 26th December and admission is EUR 12 for a family.

Guestrooms at The Ritz-Carlton, Powerscourt are the most spacious in Ireland, and include interconnecting suites, making them ideal for those with young families. If you are travelling with two children or more, we recommend that you book a Deluxe Room interconnecting with a Suite. This will provide ample and comfortable space for all the family. Please speak to your Reservation Agent who will be delighted to assist.

Costs: There is a charge of €20.00 + 23% booking fee to the agency at the time of booking. Babysitters are then paid €12.00 per hour directly on the evening with a minimum of 3 hours.

Bookings must be made at least 24 hours before the babysitter is required.

The rate over holiday periods is €15.00 per hour, minimum of 3 hours.

Concierge cannot book this service at the hotel, it must be booked through the guardians directly.
