Trek through the Sinai peninsula on a journey you never imagined possible. Guests can experience traditional Bedouin dinner parties and camel safaris in this mystical desert where the Pharaohs once mined the sands for precious metals. The name "Sinai" is said to originate from "Sin," a moon goddess worshipped by the ancient inhabitants of the desert. Formations of the many different colored rocks and canyon are evidence of the turbulent movements that gave Sinai its characteristic imprint and produced mountains including the Saint Catherine Mountain and the awe-inspiring Moses Mountain.

Half-Day Excursions

Sinai Desert Herbs and Rock Formations (Minimum 20 people - Maximum 150)

This fun and educational safari allows guests to learn about the various herbs that grow in the Sinai desert, their uses and their history. They also get to see the variety of rocks, their ages and historical background. Some rocks have fascinating natural forms that were used as tombs in certain eras.

Starlit Bedouin Dinner (Minimum 20 people - Maximum 500)

Night in the desert has its own charm and mystery. The dark blue sky is decorated with the same bright stars that have guided people through the desert since the beginning of time. Guests can have an authentic Bedouin dinner under the sky, accompanied by Bedouin music, oriental folklore and Arabic songs.

Discover the extraordinary colors and shapes of the rock formations of the Canyon. Dolphin Bay is ideal for a refreshing swim, and Dahab is a perfect place to shop for original Bedouin souvenirs.

Desert Treasure Hunt (Minimum 20 people -Maximum 150

For a more creative adventure in the desert, a real treasure hunt is the best choice. Gold blocks, ancient manuscripts or a treasure box is buried somewhere in the desert. Guests are provided with maps, shovels, compasses and water bottles to help them in their search. This activity can be customized for different levels of difficulty.

Camel Racing (Minimum 20 people - Maximum 100)

Camels are an inseparable part of the desert. No visitor to Sharm el Sheikh should leave without having ridden a camel, or at least witnessed a race. This is an absolutely unforgettable experience.

Sinai Trophy (Minimum 20 people - Maximum 100)

This activity is made for travelers with a high endurance level and an avid taste for adventure. It incorporates trekking to white sand dunes, climbing the dunes (70 meters high), camel riding for 45 minutes to Makhroum Mountain, running to Nawamees to count the historical burial chambers, sand skiing to the Rock of Inscription from the Nabateen Civilization in 2,000 BC, hiking to Ein Hudra, and skill driving to Wadi Ghazala.

Overnight Excursions

Sinai "A La Carte" (Minimum 10 people - Maximum 30)

This activity combines the luxury of The Ritz-Carlton, Sharm El Sheikh with the primitive desert life. Air-conditioned 4x4 vehicles take guests to the desert. They climb a mountain summit where they are accommodated in a luxurious five-star tent. Upon arrival they have a Bedouin lunch, then enjoy the sunset with dinner accompanied by Bedouin songs and dances. Guest stay through the night to watch the sunrise, have breakfast and are flown back to the hotel by helicopter.

Bedouin Excursion and Cooking Class (Minimum 20 - Maximum 150)

Bedouin life has always been a source of fascination for travelers from all ages and nationalities. The smells, sounds and tastes of the land of the Ten Commandments will allow guests to delve deep into this mystical life where they get to dress up like Bedouins and go to Ein Hudra. They live in a Bedouin camp and get a true feel of their life. Bedouin women teach their guests how they bake and cook. Guests try the recipes themselves and the best recipe gets a prize. They go on camel rides, visit a Bedouin Market and sleep in Bedouin tents.

Saint Catherine Monastery

A visit to the legendary Monastery of Saint Catherine, which was built in 542 AD, is a must. The Byzantine church is a perfectly preserved sacred site, housing some of the richest collections of icons and precious manuscripts in the world. Central Sinai is sparsely populated, with a few Bedouins and the monks of the monastery sharing the enchanting mountains with wolves, wild goats, gazelle and eagles.

The Ritz-Carlton arranges day-trips to Saint Catherine Monastery or a night excursion where the guests climb the mountain to experience the incredible sunrise.

Full-Day Excursion to St. Catherine & Dahab (Minimum 10 people)

St. Catherine is home to one of the best-known monasteries in the world, a Greek Orthodox holy place connected with the Prophet Moses and the exodus of the Jews from Egypt. See the Basilica and explore Dahab “gold”, named by the Bedouins for its shimmering gold sand.

Overnight Excursion to St. Catherine (Minimum eight people)

Guests go on a pilgrimage to the mountain of the Ten Commandments, stay to watch the sunrise and then descend the mountain to visit St. Catherine Monastery.

Ras Mohamed National Park

At the southernmost tip of the Sinai Peninsula is the Protectorate of Ras Mohammed, one of the most beautiful and unspoiled sites in the world. Abounding with many of nature's treasures, the Ras Mohammed National Park was declared a protected area in 1983. The park is a must for visitors to Sharm el Sheikh. The "underwater gardens," consisting of more than 150 different species of unique corals and thousands of brilliantly colored fish, are a diver's paradise. There is even a shipwreck or two to explore.

Half-Day Excursion to Ras Mohamad (Minimum 10 people)

The sightseeing starts with the amazing formations of the "Mangroves Forest", one of the few places in the world to see Mangrove trees growing in salt water. It is a stunning, natural wonder that should not be missed. The excursion continues on to some of the most beautiful sites of South Sinai and ends with a refreshing swim or some snorkeling.

Full-Day Sailing Excursion to Ras Mohamad (Minimum 15 people - Maximum 40)

This trip is tailor-made for the adventurous at heart. The group sails on a huge boat to Ras Mohamed where guests can dive or snorkel. A treasure hunt could be included in the program to add more excitement to the trip. Fishermen's lunch is served with soft drinks.

Tiran Island

The Strait of Tiran closes the Gulf of Aqaba in the south and is bound by the Sinai Peninsula to the west and Saudi Arabia to the east. At the center is Tiran Island and a little to the east is the smaller island Sanafir. Both islands officially belong to Saudi Arabia but are being used by Egypt. Because of strict military regulations, it's not possible to enter the islands. There are a number of dives in various sites at the southeastern coast of Tiran and on the coral reefs to the northwest.
