TUCSON, Ariz. – March 14, 2017 – This month The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain presented a check for $1,000 to Casa de los Niños, the Tucson non-profit dedicated to promoting child well-being and family stability in the local community. The donated funds were generated by the resort’s annual winter tree-lighting celebration, with the check awarded by Michael Aylmer, Director of Sales & Marketing for The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain, to Pam Genske, Director of Human Resources for Casa de los Niños.
Since it opened, The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain has collaborated with numerous local charities and community resources, from the Tucson arm of Habitat for Humanity to the Marana Community Food Bank. The resort’s strong relationship with Casa de los Niños began seven+ years ago, when resort chefs took over the kitchen at Casa de los Niños to prepare an early Thanksgiving feast for the charity’s cooking staff and young residents. In addition to its ongoing food service and cash donations, The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain team and overnight guests of the resort have also served as volunteers, helping to sort donations, stock shelves, and lend a hand at the Casa de los Niños thrift store. Groups holding meetings and conferences at the resort have also conducted team-building activities during which they constructed hand-assembled bikes for the organization.
“It is an honor to collaborate with Casa de los Niños, and to support its efforts to help area children and families,” said the resort’s Steve Szenasi, Director of Operations. “Knowing that the organization serves more than 6,000 kids and close to 4,000 families per year, it is a neighbor that we deeply cherish.”
Casa de los Niños delivers a continuum of non-profit services for at-risk children and families – from prevention and intervention to behavioral health treatment assistance. The organization is currently raising funds to build a new Family Center – a goal that has been some 20 years in the making.
