Boston, Mass. – September 17, 2015 – It's almost fall in New England, one of the most stunning times of the calendar year. It’s the season when vibrant colors pop all around, crisp autumn temperatures bring out layers of fall fashion and visitors to New England flock to nearby orchards to enjoy the delicious, fresh flavors of apples.
In honor of one of autumn's time-honored traditions – apple-picking with family and friends – The Ritz-Carlton, Boston Common is once again offering a 'pop-up apple orchard' so guests can enjoy the ‘fruits’ and flavors of the season, without having to drive miles away from the hotel or city.
“Our lobby pop-up apple orchard was created with our guests and local residents in mind,” says Executive Chef Frank Kassner. “We’re bringing the flavors and excitement of apple picking to those who are visiting and living here in Boston. Not everyone has the time to visit an orchard, so we brought the elements of the orchard to The Ritz-Carlton, thanks in part to our friends at Russell Orchards. Mulled cider and homemade apple pie scents greet guests immediately as they enter our hotel lobby so this is certainly a popular seasonal welcome.”
Starting September 19th, and continuing each Saturday through mid-October [9/26, 10/3, 10/10] from 1pm - 4pm, the hotel presents an urban apple orchard, where guests can enjoy apple galettes, caramel apples, cider donuts, and spiced apple cider for a taste of fall. Farm-picked apples by the half-dozen and dozen will be sold as well.
As part of The Ritz-Carlton’s Community Footprints social and environmental responsibility to better serve and partner with local community organizations, The Ritz-Carlton is pleased to be aligned with the family-operated Russell Orchards farm in Ipswich, Massachusetts. The hotel will showcase and sell a variety of their fresh picked apples, homemade vinegars and pressed apple cider at the pop-up orchard. Ritz-Carlton guests are also invited to visit Russell Orchards during their stay where they can enjoy a private wine tasting.
