Lake Club, The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe Welcomes Resort Guests at Awe-Inspiring Waterfront Venue Offering Al Fresco Dining, Leisure and Water Activities, and Direct Access to Lake Tahoe

NORTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – July 12, 2017 – The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe, the first and only AAA Five Diamond resort in the Lake Tahoe region located mid-mountain at Northstar California Resort, is excited to announce the completion and official opening of its new luxury guest amenity, Lake Club, The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe. Designed by Principal Architect Clare Walton of Walton Architecture + Engineering (Walton AE) with interior architecture and design by Jennifer Loving of Walton AE, the Lake Club adds an extraordinary new dimension to The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe experience, providing resort guests with a unique, stunningly designed waterside venue and an accompanying host of amenities that include al fresco dining, leisure and water activities, and direct access to the lake.

Combining stylish elegance with fun and functionality, the multi-level Lake Club features amenities that include an indoor gathering area and bar, a ground-floor dining terrace, an upper-level dining deck, and an expansive lawn extending to the water’s edge. Guests will have the luxury of direct beach access and a private boat pier – the embarkation point for a myriad of summer recreational activities and water sports, including boating, kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding. Additional features include an outdoor spa and inviting fire pit, luxurious showers and changing facilities, and ample storage facilities to house kayaks, stand-up paddle boards, etc.

At the Lake Club, food and beverage offerings include a rotating menu from the grill such as marinated skirt steak, grilled shrimp, grilled salmon, sausages, and veggie burgers. Seasonal salads and various desserts will also be available, in addition to morning breakfast items including whole fruit and granola. Guests can imbibe on refreshing cocktails from the full bar, including the signature “Mai Tahoe Tai” and “Basil Bloom.” Children’s beverages include various flavors of milkshakes, root beer floats, Shirley Temples, and more.

“We’re thrilled to introduce this new lakefront amenity to our resort guests,” said Marian Wilson, director of sales and marketing of The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe. “The Lake Club brings an exciting new element to our resort experience, with unprecedented access to the waterfront and the mountain, showcasing the beautiful marriage of the mountains and the lake.”

The architecture and interior design of the project was the creation of local Tahoe City-based Walton AE, a nationally-recognized, full service architectural design, interior design and engineering firm. With one of the world’s most beautiful lakes as its backdrop, Lake Club was meticulously designed to fully optimize its unprecedented proximity to the water’s edge. Artful use of natural materials such as granite and cedar wood provides a warm, welcoming and sophisticated counterbalance to the clean, contemporary lines of the steel and glass structure. Floor-to-ceiling windows on all sides allow arriving guests a stunning preview of the breathtaking views that await before they even enter the front door.

The interior design of Lake Club offers panoramic lake views with a clean, mountain modern aesthetic. Vibrant turquoise elements contrast with bold, white accents in homage to the prominent color characteristic of the lake and mountains. Earthy, warm textures are utilized throughout the space, including extensive use of select grade walnut and western red cedar echoing the rugged Tahoe landscape. Unique art pieces that evoke a sense of place were sourced from renowned artists, including New York-based Jacob Hashimoto, Jennifer Hannaford and Karen Margolis, and local artists Pat Blide (Truckee), Marianne Rosenfeld (South Lake Tahoe), Marybeth Hamilton (Kings Beach) and Troy Corlis (Truckee).

The exterior of Lake Club balances organic materials such as ledgestone veneer and western red cedar siding with crisper, more modern materials such as steel and glass. Subtle elements such as elegant glass railings throughout are yet another expression of the Lake Club’s barely-there transparency. The landscape architecture, designed by locally-based Design Workshop, was inspired by Lake Tahoe’s natural environment, utilizing native plants and trees including aspen, bearberry, creeping wild rye, Jeffrey pine, lupine, mountain mahogany, rabbit brush, and sagebrush.

“It has truly been an honor to be part of this project,” said Clare Walton, principal architect of Walton AE. “The Lake Club was a rewarding design challenge and an incredible opportunity to interact with our community. We couldn’t be more excited about what has taken place here throughout the process and we’re thrilled about the significance of this mountain-modern design within the future fabric of architecture at Lake Tahoe.”
