You may have questions about what to expect from our spa resort’s services and policies. For your convenience, we have compiled a list of the most commonly asked questions by guests who are planning a spa vacation or receiving any of our spa treatments. Is there a minimum age for treatments?
You must be 18 years of age or older to enjoy the spa relaxation and locker areas.

Guests Aged 15 and younger: May receive only the following treatments at the spa: manicures, pedicures, makeover, hair styling and cutting services.

Guests aged 16-17: May use the fitness center (1) unaccompanied by a parent or legal guardian if their parent or legal guardian signs an authorization form; or (2) without an authorization form if accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Guests Aged 16-17: May receive facials, in addition to manicures, pedicures, makeover, hair styling and cutting services, provided a consent form is on file. Massages and body treatments cannot be performed on anyone under 18 years of age. A parent or guardian must be present for the entire service if the service is delivered in an enclosed area, such as a spa treatment room and a locker will not be provided. The minor must remain fully-clothed at all times.

What is the cancellation policy?
If you must reschedule or cancel your appointment, please notify the spa at least 6 hours in advance of your appointment to avoid being charged the full service fee. Any appointments rescheduled within the 6 hour window will incur a move fee of $25. Cancellations of private parties require one week notice. You may contact us at (530) 562-3030.

What if I am late for my appointment?
Arriving late will limit the time for your treatment, thus decreasing its effectiveness and your enjoyment. Your service will end on time so the next guest is not delayed. The full value of your treatment will be charged.

What about payment for Spa services?
A valid credit card number with expiration date must be provided at time of booking. We accept all major credit cards. You may also charge services to your guest room folio. Please present discounts, , SpaFinder gift cards, gift vouchers and gift certificates at the time services are rendered. Discounts do not apply to spa packages, sale items, promotions, special events or holidays. All listed discounts are subject to black-out dates. Prices and services are subject to change.

What about gratuities?
For your convenience, a 22% service charge will be added to each spa service. This includes gratuities disbursed to the spa staff members who serve you during your visit. Additional gratuities may be offered at your discretion.

What if I have special health considerations?
Please notify our Spa reservation department with complete and accurate health information before booking your treatments. Please notify the spa reservation agent if you have high blood pressure, allergies, any other physical ailments or disabilities requiring special assistance, or if you are pregnant. If you have any concern at all, please let us know. If at any time during your services you experience discomfort, please alert your therapist immediately.

What if I am pregnant?
While there are a few services that should be avoided during pregnancy, there are many beneficial treatments that can be enjoyed. Please notify our Spa reservation agents if you are pregnant when you make your appointments so that they can offer guidance. Please note that pregnancy massage is only available during the second or third trimester.

How can I make a reservation?
Reservations can be made by calling (530) 562-3030 or by requesting a service online. We encourage you to reserve treatments at least one week in advance.

Additionally, Please inform the reservation agent of the following:

  • Allergies or medical conditions including pregnancy
  • If you have a gender preference for your therapist
  • If you have a request for a specific therapist
  • If you are celebrating any special occasions

You must provide a valid credit card number with expiration date at time of booking.

When should I arrive?
Please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your scheduled treatment. This will allow time to enjoy the lounges, saunas, steam rooms, whirlpools, cold plunge showers and outdoor spa lap pool.

Should I shave before a treatment?
Shaving is recommended but not necessary for men prior to a facial. If you do choose to shave prior to your facial, be sure to do so at least 2 hours prior to your scheduled appointment. Shaving is not recommended prior to any body treatments or hair removal services.

Should I wax, shave, laser or use the sauna or steam room before a body scrub or peel?
To achieve the utmost satisfaction and comfort from your service, we ask that you wait at least 8 hours before and after the Spa service to wash, shave or use the sauna or steam room; and wait at least 24 hours before and after a laser treatment. In addition, we recommend that you limit your sun exposure before and after the facial or body peel treatment.

What should I wear during my treatment?
Most body treatments are enjoyed without clothing. However, please wear whatever is comfortable for you. During all treatments, the body is fully draped, except for the area being worked on. It is highly recommended that all makeup be removed prior to all spa services. Robes and slippers are provided for your comfort and use. Lockers are available for your personal items.

Does it cost additional to use the Spa facilities?
Spa facilities are complimentary to resort guests, and $75 (Monday to Thursday) or $100 (Friday to Sunday) per day for spa guests who are not registered at the resort. This fee is waived with the purchase of a treatment of $100 or more.

What about my jewelry and valuables?
We cannot be responsible for any personal items and/or valuables brought into the spa or left in your locker. Please leave your valuables at home or in your room safe.

Who can guide me in choosing my treatments?
Our Spa reservation department will help you plan the perfect Spa experience, including the best order in which to enjoy your treatments.

What about my comfort?
This is your time and you should delight in the experience to the fullest. Whether it's the room temperature, the amount of massage pressure or the volume of the music, please share your preferences with us. We request that cell phones and pagers be turned off in the spa.

Are Gift Certificates available from The Spa?
Absolutely. You may purchase The Ritz-Carlton GiftCards in specific dollar amounts, which are redeemable in any of our hotels and resorts and can be used towards spa services or purchases in our Spa Boutique.
