Palm Beach, Aruba – October 6, 2017 – This month, The Ritz-Carlton, Aruba is offering a delicious line-up of ways to celebrate the One Happy Island’s passion for authentic gastronomy and mixology, giving guests the chance to explore its culinary heritage with various experiential offerings throughout October.
The savory festivities will begin on October 7, with the luxury resort hosting Aruba’s most treasured culinary event, ‘Indulge Aruba,’ for the third consecutive year. During this epicurean evening, guests can enjoy a variety of tastings from the island’s top chefs, including food, fine wines and premium spirits. The open and inviting atmosphere will commence with sensational mixology demonstrations by Emilia Lopez-Henriquez, winner of The Ritz-Carlton, Aruba 2017 mixology competition as well as first-runner-up Gregory Laurens, who will exhibit modern and handcrafted concoctions. In an exclusive culinary demonstration, Ever de Peña, the executive sous chef of Aruba Marriott Resort, and Valerie Schroth, the pastry chef of JW Marriott Lima, will exhibit their techniques and love for cooking. Additionally, students from the EPI Culinary School will engage in a cold preparation competition.
The weekend of October 13-14, The Ritz-Carlton, Aruba will host the first in an exclusive new dinner series. Themed “Flavors of Peru,” the dinner, hosted by newly appointed Executive Chef Rafael Lopez-Aliaga – a native of Peru – will take guests on a five-course journey throughout Peru. Held in the hotel’s Solanio restaurant and specially curated by Chef Lopez-Aliaga himself as well as guest chefs Valerie Schroth and Teddy Bouroncle, the dinner will kick off with the classic Peruvian cocktail, the Pisco Sour. Pisco, the national spirit of Peru, is a grape distillate, made exclusively in Peru by fermentation of fresh must. Next, guests will enjoy Peruvian king crab, yellow potatoes and an avocado emulsion, followed by grouper ceviche marinated in a sundried chili sauce, and ”Cordero Norteno” - Peruvian lamb stew – before ending with “Suspiro Limeno,” a creamy dulce de leche custard topped with light, fluffy and sweet meringue.
During this month-long culinary celebration, the luxury resort will feature Aruba’s authentic and memorable experiences with a special three-course menu at both BLT Steak and Solanio. The menus will feature traditional dishes, paying homage to Aruba’s local flavors in delicious ways. BLT Steak will offer Aruba’s famous “Pisca Cora with Funchi,” fried red snapper prepared with a decadent creole sauce and local basil oil, paired with Aruba’s spin on cooked polenta. Solanio’s alfresco dining will feature its well-known “Pasta Trio,” promoting authentic and simplistic twists on Italian cuisine, highlighting three daily pasta creations. To complete this culinary journey at BLT Steak or Solanio, guests can indulge in the delicious “Aruban Cashew Cake” dessert, served with vanilla sauce and white chocolate ganache.
