Palm Beach, Aruba – September 1, 2017 – The Ritz-Carlton, Aruba is pleased to announce Rafael Lopez-Aliaga as the resort’s newly appointed executive chef.

Hailing from Lima, Peru, and with a culinary career spanning over 25 years, Chef Rafael and brings with him a plethora of knowledge and luxury culinary experience, most recently at the JW Marriott Lima. In 2006, Chef Rafael joined Marriott International and the JW Marriott Lima in the role of executive sous chef, and later became the hotel’s executive chef.  Chef Rafael then was appointed as the hotel’s director of food and beverage. In addition to his various leadership roles, Chef Rafael remains an active member of the Culinary Council for Marriott’s Caribbean and Latin American regional team.

As executive chef of The Ritz-Carlton, Aruba, Chef Rafael will oversee a collection of eight dining outlets, including the resort’s signature “BLT Steak” restaurant, the world-renowned American steakhouse. He also will oversee the poolside Madero Latin Grill, Solanio, the resorts Italian restaurant, Divi Bar & Lounge, known to the local community for its contemporary mixology and sushi bar, as well as Ritual Coffee Culture, the resort’s newly opened coffee shop. Chef Rafael will also oversee in-room dining, The Club Lounge, and the resort’s banquets and catering operation.  

Delighted to join the dynamic team at The Ritz-Carlton, Aruba, Chef Rafael says he finds it exhilarating to bring people together through food, by creating unique and memorable dining experiences for guests. Chef Rafael will incorporate his creativity and passion for Peruvian cuisine to further enhance The Ritz-Carlton, Aruba’s menu of local flavors, adding his personal and sophisticated techniques to his culinary creations.
