Luxury beach resort offers active alternative to evening cocktails

ST. THOMAS, U.S.V.I. (JAN. 25, 2017) –To encourage guests to keep their resolutions of staying active, even on a tropical vacation, The Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas has introduced an active alternative to the pre-dinner cocktail ritual. The newly unveiled sunset kayak experience takes guests gliding across the calm waters of Great Bay as the sun begins to set, ending up at a secluded beach with panoramic views of St. John and the British Virgin Islands, where they will enjoy a toast to the day with glass of Champagne. They will then enjoy the bay bathed in early evening light on the paddle back to the resort, where they can then enjoy dinner.

The sunset excursion, which is led by naturalists from the resort’s Jean-Michel Cousteau’s Ambassadors of the Environment program, is customizable. Guests who wish to learn about the environment around them and the life beneath them can listen to explanations form the trained naturalists. Alternatively, guests are welcome to relax and enjoy the solitude as they paddle on the crystal-clear Caribbean Sea.

The sunset kayak experience is offered Monday through Friday at 5 p.m. Visit for further details and to reserve.
