Ladies and gentlemen introduce students to hospitality with interactive program
ST. THOMAS, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS (OCT. 22, 2015) —Yesterday, The Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas invited students from Ivanna Eudora Kean High School to participate in its Succeed Through Service program, designed to teach students valuable life skills for the future. The program is part The Ritz-Carlton’s Community Footprints program, a social and environmental responsibility strategy embedded into the global hotel company’s service values, long range plan and business operations. The global program focuses on three pillars, including youth engagement/child well-being.
Throughout the day, students completed sessions with members of The Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas leadership team, which were designed to provide helpful tools and resources to encourage young people lead happier, healthier and more productive lives. Sessions included a healthy eating lesson with the resort’s executive sous chef, and a social and etiquette lesson along with lunch with the hotel’s director of food and beverage. Other modules included lessons on the job application process and subsequent interview skills, successful presentation skills and a session on career exploration.
“We’re honored to have hosted these students for Succeed Through Service, a program aiming to help young people thrive in their future careers, both inside and outside the hospitality industry,” said Bernd Kuhlen, general manager of The Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas. “We hope that the diverse skill set of our leadership team will help the students develop their knowledge outside the classroom and inspire them to continue onto successful and fulfilling careers.”
