CHARLOTTE, NC – November 20, 2017 -- The dazzling Holiday Wonderland which has graced the lobby of The Ritz-Carlton, Charlotte every December since 2013 is expanding for this year, as the colorful, highly visual dream scene will make an eye-popping appearance in other parts of the hotel as well. Renowned for its first all-macaron holiday tree five years ago, The Ritz-Carlton, Charlotte has added color and sparkle to this season’s extravaganza, even introducing a new “Champagne Speakeasy Tree” to the hotel’s 15th floor Punch Room.

On display from November 22 through December 27, 2017, The Ritz-Carlton, Charlotte Holiday Wonderland features the following eye candy – all available for public viewing at no charge.

(including three made with a combined 9,500 macarons --
and one deliciously crafted from nearly 1,000 French éclairs

With the hotel lobby transformed into a glittering wintertime scene, a 12-foot tree bedecked with thousands of French macarons greets visitors upon arrival, sitting at the apex of a pine-tree lined lobby entrance. Two additional macaron trees, each decorated in silver and gold with a pop of red, complement the towering centerpiece tree, where guests may choose to leave teddy bears to be donated to a local children’s hospital.

The three neighboring trees are made with a combined 9,500 hand-crafted macarons.

At the same time, the world’s largest éclair tree adds a touch of holiday cheer to the lobby’s Bar Cocoa dessert boutique. Constructed with 980 glittering éclairs in red, gold, black and silver, the sweetly edible eight-foot tree welcomes the season’s visitors and makes for a festive family photo op.

Just outside Bar Cocoa, an environmentally-friendly holiday tree constructed of 789 recycled plastic bottles soars 17 feet toward the sky. The LEED® Gold-certified Ritz-Carlton, Charlotte is the city’s first such eco-designated property, and the recycled green bottle tree represents both a fond farewell to those enjoying the hotel’s holiday viewing experience and a salute to the treasured surrounding environment.

The 15th-floor Punch Room, ranked the top night spot in the city, is now home to its own holiday tree – a sleek, 6.5-foot champagne-colored tree festooned with vintage gold and silver ornaments and silver and gold bows. Inspired by the legendary drinking dens of yesteryear, The Punch Room features an alluring and sophisticated interior design that is complemented by the streamlined, metallic-toned Speakeasy Tree.

A picturesque, life-size gingerbread house serves as the most popular lobby attraction each season, with its intricate and entertaining construction of edible, sweet-scented gingerbread, cookies and candies. The charming cottage design – standing 12 feet wide with a 10-foot-high clock tower -- features an electric train and a garden inhabited by elves proving to be especially popular among younger visitors. The hotel team is pleased to assist guests in capturing a memorable holiday family photo in front of this delectable structure.

The lobby is home to several brilliantly lighted new holiday starbursts and glittering, supersized wreaths placed at varying heights and locations throughout the festive gathering space. Sparkling lighting fixtures are suspended from the ceiling, creating a 24/7 light show for guests and visitors enjoying the lobby and its popular K Lounge.

For those with an appetite, Bar Cocoa invites guests to forgo the rules and “play” with their holiday food – via “build your own” reindeer, trees, sleighs, and snowmen that come equipped with a piping bag to encourage crafty holiday memories. Festive macarons line the awaiting supply shelves, featuring smiling snowmen and iconic reindeer with savory pretzel antlers, all waiting to be decked out by hungry guests of all ages. The Bar Cocoa holiday offering features all the above, along with freshly-made Linzer cookies, gingerbread cookies, snowflake cookies, macarons (gingerbread, sugar plum, vanilla bean, peppermint), and a Yule Log made with tiramisu garnished with chocolate.

Visitors to the penthouse Ritz-Carlton Spa can enjoy a special seasonal treatment, with the November/December menu presenting a hot spiced pear scrub and deliciously warm sugar scrub to help prepare skin for the winter season.
