Operation Sandwich Extends Social Responsibility Opportunity to Hotel Catering Clients
CHARLOTTE, NC. – January 12, 2015 - A new initiative announced by The Ritz-Carlton, Charlotte has enhanced its VolunTeaming® offering, presenting local and overnight groups with the opportunity to make a difference in the Charlotte community.
The recently-introduced Operation Sandwich is designed to provide Charlotte’s homeless citizens with the assistance of much-needed meals, as coordinated by the Urban Ministry Center of Charlotte. The Urban Ministry needs more than 800 sandwiches per day, equaling 300,000 sandwiches annually, in order to conduct its daily operations – which are based solely on donations from the community. The Operation Sandwich partnership for group and local catering clients of The Ritz-Carlton, Charlotte kicks-off with an informational video on the Urban Ministry Center and the impact that event participants’ efforts will have on many lives within the city.
The group activity takes place directly at The Ritz-Carlton, Charlotte, where group volunteers assemble and pack sandwiches to be delivered by the hotel and/or client for distribution to the city’s homeless. The time commitment for this Volunteaming session can be tailored to suit each group’s size and timing requirements but averages one to two hours in duration. A group activity cost of $2.50 per sandwich covers the personalized chef instruction, bread, sandwich meat, wrapping, and assembly set-up.
“We know that many local catering clients and overnight groups select a hotel based in large part on its teambuilding and social responsibility programs, said David Rothwell, general manager for The Ritz-Carlton, Charlotte. “We are honored to be able to offer Operation Sandwich as a meaningful new way for our guests to impact the citizens of Charlotte.”
