A Curated Tour of Traditional Hong Kong Teahouses with the Hotel’s Executive Chef
Provides an Authentic Journey for Foodies

HONG KONG – October 12, 2016 – Set in a diverse and unique culinary destination, The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong invites foodies to explore the city’s wide spectrum of delicacies from local cha chan tang or Hong Kong teahouses, through its new ‘Flavors of Hong Kong’ package. Chef will treat guests to exclusive insights into the history of cha chan tang and its importance to the city’s culinary scene through a guided tour and unique specialties throughout their two-night stay.

Busting onto the scene in the city’s thriving years of the 1960s, ‘cha chan tang’ is a unique marriage of cultures. As Western food became increasingly popular in Hong Kong and locals sought a more approachable dining experience, this uniquely Hong Kong blend of East and West was born. Though the city’s dining scene has changed significantly over the years, this culinary institution has remained steadfast. Through the ‘Flavors of Hong Kong’ experience, foodies will be amongst the diverse crowds of businessman, schoolkids, and more as they enjoy these tasty, hybrid creations with Chef.

With a private transfer to the nearby Mongkok neighborhood accompanied by Chef, guests will enjoy a culinary adventure exploring cha chan tang. Ranging from intimate eateries serving wonton noodles and egg tart to the city’s famous one-star Michelin dim sum restaurant, Tim Ho Wan, guests will be captivated with an authentic taste of Hong Kong’s treasured neighborhood restaurants. Additionally, guests can tour the Wet Market, where the culinary scene comes alive as vendors make the case for their fresh fish, meat, and vegetables to be purchased.

For a change in flavor palettes, guests are treated to a late night dinner at another one-star Michelin dining experience at the hotel’s Italian restaurant, Tosca. Helmed by Pino Lavarra, Tosca features an innovative menu with thrilling interpretations of the region’s notable cuisine creating a theatrical dining experience. A few floors up at the highest bar in the world, OZONE, the signature Hong Kong Skyline cocktail awaits guests for the perfect nightcap amongst the clouds. Idolizing the iconic cityscape, the clever libation is made with Zacapa 23 Years, pink grapefruit juice, lime, Imperial Oolong Syrup, and absinthe, poured into a martini glass and topped with Dom Pérignon foam.

The ‘Flavors of Hong Kong’ package is available for 13,888 HK (approximately 1,788 USD). Offerings include a two-night stay in a Deluxe Victoria Harbour Room, welcome note and locally-inspired amenity from Chef, afternoon tour with chef to experience local street delicacies, dinner at the hotel’s one-star Michelin Italian restaurant Tosca, followed by enjoying the signature Hong Kong Skyline cocktail at OZONE.
