Sanya, China, February 21, 2017 – The Ritz-Carlton Sanya, Yalong Bay is pleased to announce the arrival of Law Kean Meng as Executive Pastry Chef. With multiple experiences across the Asia Pacific region, Law brings his dynamic perspective and technical expertise to the highly coveted resort.

Law Kean Meng has served The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company since 2004, where he first started as Assistant Pastry Chef at The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong. Subsequently, he was elevated to the rank of Executive Pastry Chef at The Ritz-Carlton, Shenzhen in 2009. In parallel, Law also served as Trainer for the opening of The Ritz-Carlton, Guangzhou in 2008, and of Phulay Bay – A Ritz-Carlton Reserve in 2009 in Thailand, where he was always praised for his technical expertise and his uncompromising quest for perfection.

Previously, he worked in pastry programs for various hotels in his native land of Malaysia, including Shangri-La Hotel in Kuala Lumpur and the Palace of Golden Horses. Law Kean Meng began his vocation after extensive training from the Culinary Arts Institute of Kuala Lumpur in 1991, before sharpening his skillset throughout his career with specializations in bread baking, art of ice cream making and chocolate engineering.

Silver medalist at the 13th Food Hotel contest, Law Kean Meng was honored by His Majesty the monarch of Malaysia in 2002. With his new appointment, he is excited to join the talented team at The Ritz-Carlton Sanya, Yalong Bay and to be a part of the resort’s exquisite dining experiences.

Along with doctors and scientists, being a chef is one of the few professions that provides the honor to wear the white vest. This implies a responsibility to relentlessly deliver perfection, each time, without any compromise.” said Chef Law Kean Meng. This is the same vision that motivates Vice-President and General Manager Mr. Hoss Vetry as hotelier, who commented “We are delighted to welcome Law Kean Meng as executive pastry chef and entrust him with our talented brigade. He is a generous and committed chef, whose technical expertise and high standards are an excellent asset for The Ritz-Carlton Sanya, Yalong Bay.”

Following his nomination, Chef Law has introduced a locally inspired Hanainese Afternoon Tea that will be available at Scene at the beginning of March. For more information, please visit ritzcarlton.com/Sanya.
