The three-day culinary extravaganza showcased the creativity, drama and entertainment value of globally renowned star chefs to a host of discerning diners and guests.

Sanya, China, December 22, 2015 – The Ritz-Carlton Sanya, Yalong Bay has further cemented Sanya’s image as an international hotspot with the Nothing Ordinary Food & Wine Festival. Held from Dec 10 to 13 at the The Ritz-Carlton Sanya, Yalong Bay, the 2015 event was a great success, with seven globally renowned professional chefs and experts from world-famous wineries and distilleries giving guests an unforgettable experience. The giants of gourmet presented a perfect fusion of culinary craftsmanship, creative concepts, drama, and entertainment. The experience was truly unique, giving those present a once-in-a-lifetime culinary experience.

The chefs traveled to Sanya from seven countries. Charles Phan from Vietnam, owner of a bespoke modern Vietnamese restaurant in San Francisco, presented his own stylish take on traditional Vietnamese cuisine. Xavier Salomon from France heads the kitchen of the second Ritz-Carlton Hotel to earn the title Maître Cuisinier de France (French Master Chef). William Werner is a celebrated pastry chef in the US. Andrés Jiménez from Costa Rica is an expert in Latin cuisine. Fernando Reyes from Nicaragua, Daniele Vacca from Italy and Antonin Wang from China who was awarded The Ritz – Carlton Award of Culinary Excellence Global Rising Star in 2014, rounded out the group.

The international chefs were greeted by a large crowd of media and guests at the event’s opening ceremony. Dressed in their chef whites, they drew rapturous applause from the gathered crowd.

The guests were not only able to sample food prepared by some of the world’s most celebrated chefs, they were also able to mingle with the culinary superstars, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Guests at the festival were able to take part in a variety of culinary events, with the celebrity chefs accompanying attendees to vibrant local streets and showing them how to select the very best seafood in the market like an expert. The waterfront wedding chapel was the idyllic venue
for a Master Class and Barbecue. The water lapped at guests’ feet as they enjoyed the live music, the delicious charcoal barbecue and craft beers.

The Sand Castle Wine Tasting featured globally renowned wineries and top sommeliers taking guests through a tasting of some of the world’s top wines.

Charles Phan from Vietnam took the helm of Pearl Chinese Restaurant and presented stylish traditional Vietnamese cuisine; Xavier Salomon from France commanded Sand Restaurant and delighted guests with high class French cuisine. Andrés Jiménez from Costa Rica, along with Fernando Reyes, Daniele Vacca and Antonin Wang, presented an exceptional Italian feast in Sofia Italian Restaurant. The champagne and dessert matching event by celebrated pastry chef William Werner was a highlight for many people.

The oxygen bar allowed guests to relish the chefs’ creations served in baskets alongside the pristine ocean. The event closed with the Nothing Ordinary Grand Dinner Tasting. The chefs demonstrated their craft in a distinctive performance with representatives from renowned wineries and top sommeliers by their side. A live band and passionate performers elevated the evening to unparalleled heights of culinary craftsmanship, dramatic interpretation, and pure entertainment.
