Shanghai, China - February 1, 2016 - Who can resist the allure of chocolate? Imagine the feeling of walking into a chocolate shop and smelling the decadent aroma. And somehow, even without a taste of that chocolate, you feel better! The reason? The scent of chocolate stimulates “happy feeling” endorphins which create feelings of well-being and can actually reduce stress! And now, the newly launched chocolate Spa at The Ritz-Carlton Spa can let you indulge your skin with that same luxury.

After having a cup of rich hot chocolate drink, tantalize your senses with the aroma of a full-body chocolate scrub, a personalized chocolate massage and a soothing chocolate wrap with a chocolate facial. To cap off your chocolate transformation, a delectable handmade chocolate treat prepared by the hotel’s French Executive Pastry Chef will be waiting for you after this unique treatment.

In fact, the cocoa is believed to be good for your skin. It contains over 300 compounds which can have a positive effect on your skin. Cocoa contains glycerides which provide moisturizing lipids and fats that reduce wrinkles. Theobromine, a compound in chocolate that is similar to caffeine, stimulates the circulatory system and produces a slimming effect on the body. Chocolate also contains polyphenols, antioxidants that thwart the free radicals which are responsible for aging. More importantly for the romantics in our audience, chocolate causes the body to release feel-good hormones similar to those released when you are in love. (Biologically speaking, those who claim chocolate equals love aren’t far off).

This chocolate Spa treatment undoubtedly leaves you not only looking great, but feeling great! So indulge in the essence of chocolate!

Beyond simply rubbing on commercial lotion, a chocolate massage gives you a power-pack of moisturizing agents. Chocolate massage all over for extremely dry skin or on specific rough patches, including knees, elbows and soles, reports The Herb Companion. The antioxidants found in chocolate massage creams also help the skin retain moisture long after the massage is over.
