Luxury Hotel Launches Two New Epicurean Experiences,
Inviting Guests to Explore the Beauty of China with the Executive Chef
Shanghai, China – December 29, 2016 – Inspired by the destination’s iconic culinary traditions, The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, Pudong invites foodies to go beyond the hotel dining experience with its latest offering, ‘Culinary Journey.’ Discovering exquisite corners of China, guests will venture alongside Executive Chef in search of the finest ingredients indigenous to China including the original village where the Chinese Longjing Green Tea plantation is located, Thousand Island Lake, and more. Through his inventive cooking style, Chef utilizes the ingredients to create a one-of-a-kind culinary experience, rounding out a memorable sensory exhibition for guests.
A culinary destination that has evolved over the past 5,000 years, China’s appreciation of food has played an important role in Chinese culture. Remaining steadfast while incorporating modern techniques, the history of Chinese cuisine is defined by both variety and change. Celebrating the destination’s intricate delicacies, two phases of the hotel’s ‘Culinary Journey’ are available, with further explorations planned for the near future.
Highly regarded as an exquisite art form, Chinese tea has a profound history. The first ‘Culinary Journey’ tour with Chef takes guests by private car transportation for a guided tour throughout Mt. Longjing Hangzhou, where nestled within the hills lies a tea village that is renowned for its production of Chinese Longjing Green Tea. Guests will visit one of the most historical tea plantations to learn unique preparation techniques from the plantation’s tea master. Once back at the hotel, guests will then utilize their skills to create two specially crafted Chinese Tea-inspired dishes – Green Tea Risotto with Sautéed Lobster and Green Tea Codfish with French Bulla Bees Seafood – during a private cooking class with the chef.
The second available ‘Culinary Journey’ tour travels to Thousand Island Lake, where Chef will accompany guests on a speed boat to the sturgeon pools. As the sun sets, Chef will prepare a special dining experience by the lake featuring Grilled Sturgeon with Caviar and Tuna Tartar with Caviar where he utilizes the Kaluga Queen high-quality caviar, the best in China.
The ‘Tea Finding’ Culinary Journey package includes a two-night stay in a Club Bund View Deluxe room, a tour to the original tea plantation in Hangzhou in a limousine with a personal driver, tea picking class by the tea master, exclusive lunch with tea tasting, private themed cooking class at the hotel, four-course Chef’s Table dinner, and inspired farewell amenity. This package is available between March 20th and April 30th 2017 with rates starting at $1,920 for single occupancy and $2,380 for double occupancy.
