Shanghai, China – June, 2018 – Dante, a restaurant bar originally opened in 1915 and has since become a registered New York City landmark, ranked No.16 on the 2017 World’s Best Bar List, and will run its pop-up this June at The Ritz Bar & Lounge in The Portman Ritz-Carlton, Shanghai from June 27 to July 2, 2018, from 8pm to 12am every evening, as part of the hotel’s Movers & Shakers guest bartending series, in partnership with Thirsty Works Production and Campari China.
To celebrate the aperitif culture behind Italian heritage, Campari launches its first Red Hand campaign in China by bringing co-owner of Dante, Naren Young, on tour to China. With guest bartending performances in Beijing, Chengdu and Shenzhen, Naren will be in Shanghai at the pop-up bar showcasing welcoming vibes along with a local renowned bartender on each evening. A Negroni lover, Naren will showcase his magic behind the dark wood bar with a finely curated selection of aperitifs and digestif and a separate Negroni section with intriguing twists.
About Naren Young Naren Young started studying classic cocktails at the tender age of 15. Over a 25-year career in the hospitality industry, Naren’s skills have taken him around the world in various capacities. He was once “The Cocktail Guy” for the Avroko Hospitality Group in New York, creating and overseeing the cocktail programs at all five their U.S. properties. Under Naren’s guidance, Saxon + Parole was crowned the “World’s Best Restaurant Bar" at the Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards in July of 2013. In 2017, Dante, the restaurant bar that Naren is currently in charge of was voted as No.16 Best Bar in the World by Drinks International and also placed as the fourth best bar in all of North America.
Naren is also a well-respected and widely published food and drinks journalist who has been nominated four times as one of top four drinks writers in the world at those game Tales of the Cocktail Awards, held every year in New Orleans. He is often quoted in the media as an authority on cocktail and spirit-related things and has made many appearances on television both in Australia and the U.S., presenting on Martha Stewart, Emeril Lagasse, the Food Network and NBC.
