Shanghai, China, June 2018 – From June 7 to 8, 2018, Chef Fatih Tutak from The House on Sathorn, Bangkok, voted as one of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2018, will present a two-day innovative dining experience of innovative Turkish cuisine at The Portman Ritz-Carlton, Shanghai, spotlighting his signature recipes and new creations exclusive to his Shanghai journey.

Diners will experience a menu that celebrates Turkish heritage in new inspiration, with plates rooted in memory and playful touches from childhood nostalgia, drawing on influencers from Istanbul, across the Mediterranean, to Central Asia, and his mother’s kitchen. For two days only, the eight-course dinner menu and a three-course cooking demonstration menu promise to immerse diners in the chef’s culinary world of senses.

Originally from Istanbul, Turkey, Chef Tutak was exposed to rich flavors and a diversity of humble ingredients prepared traditionally, but the home cooking of his mum always remains center of his inspiration. “My culinary interest was inspired at a young age by my mother’s home cooking, which developed into a passion and fueled my dream of becoming a chef,” explains Chef Tutak. After working in some of the top establishments in Istanbul’s luxury hotel and restaurant industry, Chef Tutak had the opportunity move abroad, with stop-overs in Beijing, Tokyo, Singapore, Denmark and Hong Kong.

Before his role as directory of culinary operations at The House on Sathorn, he worked on a unique dining experience at The Bellbrook Hong Kong, recognized by the Hong Kong-Macau Michelin Guide 2015. Other stints include the world-renowned restaurant NOMA in Copenhagen and three-star Michelin Nihonryori Ryugin in Tokyo. He also served as executive sous chef at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, among other celebrated establishments. Recently, his greatest accomplishment is having his signature restaurant, The Dining Room being listed as one of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2018.

Combining the finest seasonal ingredients from Asia, each dish reflects Chef Tutak’s love for travel and discovery, a fun dining concept that perfectly balances technique, culinary sensibility and lightheartedness, which are aligned with The House’s narrative.
