Newly enriched ‘Discover with You’ package offers a unique experience for global travelers
Dubai, UAE, March 1, 2016 – The Ritz-Carlton, Dubai International Financial Centre is inviting guests to explore the world of art from a new perspective with the introduction of an enhanced hotel package aimed at empowering guests to discover the ‘Art of Collecting Art’.
Originally launched in 2011, ‘Discover with You’ was created to encourage guests to explore the hotel’s artworks in a unique way, by enjoying a private tour of the luxury Dubai hotel’s own flourishing art collection, on loan from Opera Gallery, DIFC, guided by the gallery’s General Manager, Sylvain Gaillard.
New for this year, ‘Discover with You’ now offers guests with an interest in art the opportunity to experience a personal introduction to the art of collecting with Sylvain Gaillard. Specifically tailored to suit guests’ individual interests and level of knowledge and will follow three general themes, each providing a unique insight into how to navigate the art market:
Basics of investing in art – gaining confidence and searching for inspiration
Investment – the essence of finding a personal treasure with investment potential
Leaving a legacy – how to use a passion for art to build a personal collection that will bring joy to others
Celebrating its fifth anniversary this year, art has been in the DNA of The Ritz-Carlton, DIFC since its inception and the hotel has since built up an impressive collection with over 100 paintings on display. This is complemented by a diverse range of works, including around 30 sculptures by internationally-renowned artists, which Opera Gallery provides and changes on a quarterly basis.
Highlights include Pierre Matter’s impressive ‘Evolving Falcon’, made from bronze, copper and various other metals to highlight the contrast of the artificial and the natural, that welcomes guests to the lobby, and ‘Requin’ by Corda Mauro, a three-metre long shark, weighing 700 Kg, that sits in the striking 10-storey fountain in the hotel’s Porte Cochere (see overleaf for further collection highlights).
Along with exclusive guided tours and a personalized introduction to the ‘Art of Collecting Art’, ‘Discover with You’ also offers overnight accommodation in a Deluxe Room or Executive Suite, including breakfast, and credit to spend in the DIFC hotel’s restaurants or spa.
Lothar Quarz, General Manager of The Ritz-Carlton, DIFC believes the new package will continue to strike a chord with the hotel’s guests: “As global travelers, we know that our guests are seeking unique and meaningful experiences when they travel. And our approach to enlivening their experience through art helps to create truly memorable moments.
“Indeed, art is a much thought about and discussed subject among our guests and we see first-hand how they are inspired by the pieces on display and have a desire to learn more. Our partnership with Opera Gallery enables us to open the door for our guests to discover a whole new side of art and, with a trusted and knowledgeable expert guiding them through their first few steps, this special experience will stay with them long after they leave.”
Sylvain Gaillard, General Manager of Opera Gallery, DIFC adds; “We are delighted to be collaborating with The Ritz-Carlton, DIFC to enable the hotel’s guests to explore a deeper appreciation of art. This is very close to my heart as I truly believe that investing in art – whatever your level of knowledge or area of interest, whether it be for the purpose of financial investment or with a view to building a beautiful and rewarding art collection – can be accessible to everyone.”
