February 21, 2016, Dubai, UAE – The Ritz-Carlton, Dubai is taking its luxury wedding offering to new heights for 2016, with its wedding planners sharing predictions for what’s hot in the world of weddings for the year to come. The premise behind the predictions is to provide increased expertise and recommendations for the growing number of millennial couples choosing to host their dream day at the luxury resort, allowing the hotel to create the most memorable wedding experience possible for the bride, groom and their guests.
Mohamed Saad, Wedding Expert, The Ritz-Carlton, Dubai shares the hotel’s wedding trends and insider tips for 2016:
Next Level Personalization
“More couples are incorporating elements based on places that hold a special place in their heart and for many UAE expatriates it’s their hometown, or for those hosting a destination wedding, they are looking to include as many touches from the local culture as possible. We even hosted a wedding for a couple who met in Venice, who brought in Venetian-style street lamps to line the Gulf Lawn, gave guests Venetian masks and our Chefs created a bespoke menu of Italian-inspired cuisine. Each couple we welcome enjoys a personal relationship with one of our wedding experts from the very first meeting until the last guest leaves, and by doing so we are able to help create a truly unique experience, entirely crafted to complement the couples’ personalities, tastes and experiences.”
From Runway to Reception
“Our millennial wedding couples are extremely forward thinking and an important touch point for them is fashion. We have recently seen the trends from the runways transcending to weddings at the hotel, and two key fashion trends for 2016 will work beautifully for wedding receptions. Ruffles will be big in Spring, and our talented Pastry Chefs are working on some new cake designs that pull through the ruffle theme via cascading icing or buttercream. Metallics are key for the Fall season, and we recommend gold for couples marrying in our magnificent Loulou’A Ballroom to complement the décor, or more rustic copper or rose gold for those who choose outdoors on the Gulf Lawn.”
“When it comes to flowers, we’re seeing a return to simplicity. Single posies, or arrangements of four or five different types of flower, in the same or similar tones and colors. Pastels remain the most popular choice due to their versatility, and can look effective both inside the ballroom and for an al fresco wedding. For cakes, our requests remain diverse, but a new trend we have seen emerging is a ‘naked’ sponge cake, i.e. without the classic icing encasing the outside of the cake, and wedding cupcakes are becoming increasingly popular.”
Weddings at The Ritz-Carlton, Dubai
The Ritz-Carlton, Dubai is able to accommodate both intimate celebrations and large-scale weddings. Loulou’A, meaning ‘pearl’ in Arabic, is the resort’s ballroom, and a perfect location for once-in-a-lifetime celebrations. Hues of purple and gold, dazzling chandeliers and pearl designs adorn the venue while discreet arcs provide a distinctly Arabian feel. Measuring 833 m2, Loulou’A can accommodate up to 450 guests for an exquisite dinner or 800 guests for a standing reception. A collection of five smaller indoor spaces allow guests to experience more intimate celebrations, while the Majlis serves as the perfect venue for discreet pre-wedding gatherings.
For outdoor celebrations, the Gulf Lawn is set amidst the lush gardens of the resort with breathtaking views of the turquoise waters of the Arabian Gulf, dotted with idyllic gazebos and eye-catching firepots. At 1,700 m2, the lawn can comfortably hold up to 600 guests for a wedding reception, whilst the smaller Sunbird Lawn provides a more intimate setting for pre-wedding drinks and cocktail receptions.
