Moscow, Russia — April 25, 2014 — Yoann Bernard has been appointed as the new Executive Chef of The Ritz-Carlton, Moscow. He joins the hotel’s team after most recently serving at The Ritz-Carlton, Kuala Lumpur. Mr. Bernard has more than 19 years of culinary experience in luxury hotels and fine dining restaurants around the world. At The Ritz-Carlton, Moscow he will introduce a sophisticated international cuisine concept with distinct Asian and Russian touches to appeal to the well-travelled Moscow foodies and hotel guests.

A native of Brittany, France, Yoann Bernard joined a culinary school at the age of 14, formally beginning his apprenticeship four years later. He started a professional career in the early 2000’s in the US and Europe where he worked for a number of hotel properties, including L’Orangerie (Los Angeles), a member of Relais & Châteaux association, and Las Dunas Beach & Spa Hotel in Marbella with a Michelin-starred restaurant. In 2005 he joined the team of the historically renowned Grand Hotel Europe in St. Petersburg, Russia as Executive Sous Chef.

After spending three full years in St. Petersburg, he decided to advance his knowledge of Asian cuisine and moved to Singapore joining the team at the Raffles Hotel. He became a member of The Ritz-Carlton family in 2011 as Executive Sous Chef of The Portman Ritz-Carlton, Shanghai and was appointed Executive Chef of The Ritz-Carlton, Kuala Lumpur in 2012. Yoann Bernard was also a trainer for the recent opening of The Ritz-Carlton, Bangalore.

As Executive Chef of The Ritz-Carlton, Moscow Yoann Bernard will be responsible for three dining venues (Russian cuisine restaurant Café Russe, the O2 Lounge restaurant and bar with the largest outdoor terrace in Moscow and the Lobby Bar & Lounge), extensive banquet and catering offerings as well as in-room dining for 334 rooms. Mr. Bernard is known as a follower of the sous-vide cooking method and a big fan of seafood that he likes to feature in his sophisticated culinary creations.
