DOES VODKA HAVE A TASTE? YES, IF THE TASTING IS RIGHT

MOSCOW – July 18, 2017 – While every five-star hotel in the world offers noble wines to guests, very few if any can boast such a unique service as vodka tasting. Since its very opening, The Ritz-Carlton, Moscow has been gathering expertise in the field of vodka and is ready to present an extraordinary service – vodka tasting.

This holistic experience consists of three stages of vodka-enlightenment. The ceremony begins with an introduction from the vodka sommelier. Guests will discover why the perfect vodka should contain 40 percent alcohol and what the famous Russian scientist Mendeleev has to do with it, why the most popular vodkas are made of wheat, rye or potato, and what types of vodka have a sweet taste without having any sugar in it. Then, the sommelier offers a tasting of three kinds of different Russian premium and luxury vodkas. And, as it is deeply rooted in the Russian tradition, a set of Russian-style dishes - so called “zakuski”- though in a miniature format, accompanies the tasting.

Lasting 30 to 45 minutes, this ceremony can be a perfect start to a dinner and a unique introduction to the Russian culture.  Reservations should be made 24 hours in advance.
