The Award of Culinary Excellence named the Executive Chef of Penha Longa Resort best in Europe.

Sintra – May 31, 2016 – The Executive Chef for Penha Longa Resort, João Alves, was named Chef of The Year, 2015 by Marriott International in honour of his contributions to culinary excellence within the company and towards guests. This award is a recognition of hard work, dedication, leadership and commitment to serving the guests of Marriott International properties in Europe.

“Given the excellent, diverse nature of Marriott International´s chefs and restaurants right now, to be given this award a true honour," said João Alves. “I have a strong team at Penha Longa Resort and it is due to our hard work and dedication that we were able to create a comfortable, fun, inviting atmosphere where our guests wish to return again and again.”

The ACE awards (Award of Culinary Excellence) was established in 1998 to identify and celebrate Marriott International impressive global culinary talent.

João Alves is the Executive Chef at Penha Longa Resort for three years where he assumes the leadership of eleven chefs, six restaurants and all the outside catering operational team.
