Inspired By “Bourbon Legends,” The Lobby Bar Elevates the Art of the Cocktail

AMELIA ISLAND, FLA. –December 16, 2016 – The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island, a luxury beachfront resort situated along 13 miles of pristine Atlantic coastline, is unveiling a brand new Lobby Bar later this year. This sophisticated, contemporary bar will be the premiere gathering spot for hotel guests to enjoy a relaxed and refined cocktail culture and freshly prepared sushi and light bites.

The launch of The Lobby Bar at The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island is paving the way into a rising culinary concept: one where extraordinary beverage programs become the forefront. Here, bourbon and rare spirits will be the main attraction. Inspired by bourbon legends, The Lobby Bar will feature small-batch spirits and craft cocktails like the Smoked Old Fashioned. New traditions such as “First Call,” “Tableside Infusions,” and the “Legends Table” will make The Lobby Bar a communal hub where hotel guests can socialize throughout the day.

As afternoon transitions to night, “First Call” introduces the day’s small-batch, house- infused spirit: a limited-production craft liquor for cocktail enthusiasts. Throughout the day the infuser will slowly distill a signature spirit and as the final drip is collected, the Barman will announce “First Call!” to the gathered crowd. The Barman unlocks the custom case to remove the infusion and pours servings until the day’s craft liquor is but a memory. “Tableside Infusions” offer the ultimate visceral cocktail experience. Using a full “chemistry set” at each table, the Bar’s Mixologist craft custom-infused beverages right before guests’ eyes. Hotel and local guests can also gather together and enjoy made-to-order Bourbon Punchbowls alongside lively music. At night, “in the know” guests will reserve the iconic “Legends Table” to sample flights curated by the Head Barman, including minimal distills from Kentucky’s Bourbon Trail and junmai and aru-ten sakes.

“The Ritz-Carlton has a long history of creating innovative and unique experiences for our guests – especially with our Salt restaurant and the award winning Coast restaurant,” said James McManemon, General Manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island. “We are creating a signature cocktail experience unlike any other for guests at The Lobby Bar. At it’s core, The Lobby Bar is a celebration of the art of the craft. We are proud to launch this new concept and welcome our guests and community to The Lobby Bar.”

The Lobby Bar will host its first signature event, “A Bourbon Affair,” on January 28, 2017 as the official Finale to Amelia Island’s Restaurant Week. Guests will enjoy unique cocktail infusions from Lobby Bar Mixologist Johnny Love and guest Mixologist Bob Peters of The Ritz-Carlton, Charlotte.  Mr. Charlie Nelson, renowned Master Distiller of Belmeade Bourbon, will present The Lobby Bar with its’ custom-blend Bourbon and conduct a craft tasting. Attendees will also partake of tasting plates from the Lobby Bar’s sushi counter and enjoy local artisan presentations, including a local glass blower making custom rocks glasses and a local cigar roller for aficionados.
