2015 Readers’ Choice Awards List Ranks Best of the Best
Orlando, Fla. – December 2015 – The Ritz-Carlton and JW Marriott, Orlando, Grande Lakes have been named to Condé Nast Traveler’s 2015 Readers’ Choice Awards list of “Top 25 Resorts in Florida (Gulf & Central).” The annual list ranks the best hotels, resorts, and destinations around the world. 2015 results were based on a reader survey with over 128,000 responses, the most in its history.
The 500-acre Grande Lakes estate featuring both The Ritz-Carlton and JW Marriott hotels continues to provide a first-class experience to its guests with new experiences, services and offerings across the two properties. In the past two years Grande Lakes Orlando has solidified its commitment to sustainability and farm-to-fork dining with the launch of two new restaurants. In September 2014, the resort opened Highball & Harvest ("H&H") at The Ritz-Carlton. H&H combines rustic authenticity with Ritz-Carlton refinement featuring a creative menu of Low Country and Cajun-inspired dishes infused with local Floridian citrus flavors, handcrafted cocktail classes and Central Florida’s largest selection of wines from the cask. In addition, JW Marriott Orlando debuted Whisper Creek Farm: The Kitchen and The Brewery in April 2015. The first brewery in any Marriott hotel, this nano-brewery uses ingredients from the resort's on-property 18,000-square-foot Whisper Creek Farm to produce seasonal brews and the resort's flagship beer, Surplus, which is made in collaboration with nearby Florida Beer Company using honey from the resort's on-site apiaries. These beers are served throughout the 500-acre resort and on tap at The Kitchen, in combination with small plates and seasonal dishes. Fresh produce from Whisper Creek Farm and local purveyors are incorporated into dishes and cocktails at these restaurants and throughout the property.
In keeping with the growing trend and benefits of incorporating technology into workout routines, the resort recently announced a revamp of its 6,000-square-foot fitness center at The Ritz-Carlton Spa. Offering some of the latest, technologically advanced exercise equipment, this is the first resort in the United States to feature Technogym’s complete ARTIS collection of cardio, strength and functional equipment.
