Jakarta, 7 August 2017 - In celebration of Indonesia’s 72nd Independence Day, The Ritz-Carlton Jakata, Mega Kuningan presents two Indonesian-inspired culinary promotions: “Indonesian Colonial Cuisine" at ASIA Restaurant from 9 – 19 August 2017 and “Merdeka Moments” at LOBO Restaurant on 14 – 18 August 2017.

At ASIA RESTAURANT
Led by Executive Chef Rudolph Blatter, Asia Restaurant will offer a complete culinary journey with a wide array of unique dishes on its buffet counters. Reminiscent to the Dutch colonial times in Batavia, the delectable menu items namely; Nasi Krawu (Authentic dish consists of rice in banana leaf with shredded beef, beef stew, serundeng (coconut flakes) and shrimp paste sambal; Bebek Ingkung (originally from Madura, East Java, this duck dish is marinated with traditional ingredients such as santan (coconut milk), ginger and tamarind; Seupan (taro & cassava and banana with tasty grated coconut, ebi shrimp and Kinca Blondho); Sate Kere (satay that consists of beef, chicken and lamb with peanut sauce); Bubur Ase Betawi (porridge with beef stew and tofu with pickled vegetables and crackers); Kerupuk Gebyur (Indonesian crackers with brown sugar sauce and spicy-tangy sambal) and many more.

To invigorate the festivity, Asia Restaurant will be adorned with Indonesian themed Tempo Doeloe décor as the restaurant staff will be dressed in Indonesia colonial ensemble. This culinary promotion starts from IDR 318,000++ per person available for lunch and dinner.

Asia Restaurant will also present an interesting offer: all guests who celebrate their birthday anytime in the month of August are entitled to a 45% OFF dining bill on their visit, by simply showing their ID card to the restaurant staff upon arrival.

At LOBO RESTAURANT
Whilst at LOBO Restaurant, guests are invited to celebrate the week in a culinary journey back to the olden time, with sumptuous Indonesian dishes from 14 August to 18 August 2017. Entitled ‘Merdeka Moments’, our Chef de Cuisine Jan Schwittalla will present - for the first time ever - a special 5-scourse set menu inspired by various local dishes that he had come across since he arrived – with his modern European style twist.

This five-day fine dining experience is set to pamper diners with an exquisite Indonesian courses, such as Gado-gado (Indonesian most popular salad consisting mixed vegetables in peanut dressing); Gulai Ayam (chicken cooked in curry-like paste called Gulai); Pepes Ikan (steamed fish wrapped in banana leaves); Rendang (Indonesia’s world-renowned beef shanks stewed with chili paste, authentic local spices and coconut milk); and one of the most popular desserts in Indonesia, Es Cendol (coconut milk mixed with palm sugar featuring the unique tiny green jellies made from rice flour, served with shaved ice).
