Famed Pâtissier, Pierre Hermé, will greet guests on February 7th in addition to year-round collaborations on property

NEW YORK, NY. (February 4, 2015)The Ritz-Carlton, Kyoto will celebrate its first anniversary with a special visit from world-renowned French Pâtissier, Pierre Hermé. In addition to visiting the hotel’s exclusive culinary outlets, Mr. Hermé will be on hand to greet guests, sign autographs and pose for photos. For those unable to make the journey to Japan this week, Pierre Hermé experiences are available all year long, including exclusive menu items and a special children’s pastry making experience at Ritz Kids.

Pierre Hermé, credited with revolutionizing modern pastry making, has invented his own original world of tastes and sensations, using pastry as a canvas to create stunning works of art. The Ritz-Carlton, Kyoto is home to a team of pâtissiers from PIERRE HERMÉ PARIS, creating cakes, macarons, and other tempting deserts in full view of diners and guests at Le Vetrina Della Boutique in the hotel’s La Locanda restaurant.

In addition to an on-site PIERRE HERMÉ PARIS Boutique, The Ritz-Carlton, Kyoto serves the pastries during tea at The Lobby Lounge and, for the property’s youngest guests, the Ritz Kids program includes a one-of-a-kind ‘Sticky Fingers’ activity. Taught by the resort’s in-house PIERRE HERMÉ PARIS pâtissiers, children have the chance to learn how to make their own simple sweets and pastries, and of course enjoy indulging in their creations afterwards.

The Ritz-Carlton, Kyoto opened in February 2014 and is Kyoto’s only international luxury branded resort. The property’s stately ryokan-inspired design pays homage to Japan's rich culture combining tradition with modern luxury. In addition to sweets from PIERRE HERMÉ PARIS, the resort also offers signature culinary experiences in its Japanese restaurant, Mizuki; Italian restaurant, La Locanda; and relaxing Lobby Lounge.

The ‘Sticky Fingers’ experience from PIERRE HERMÉ PARIS is available every Sunday from 3:30 to 4:30p.m. at The Ritz-Carlton, Kyoto Ritz Kids program and costs roughly USD $30 per person.
