To celebrate the 20th Anniversary of The Ritz-Carlton, Osaka, which on May 23rd, 1997 became the first Ritz-Carlton property to open in Japan, the hotel is hosting a series of special events including a 20th Anniversary Gala Dinner and 20th Anniversary 20 Day Countdown.

A Dream Collaboration between Michelin star chef Rolf Fliegauf and The Ritz-Carlton, Osaka’s Executive Chef

~ Featuring the beautiful jazz vocals of Ms. Yasuko Agawa ~

World renowned chef Rolf Fliegauf has worked at many of the world’s top restaurants, including Noma in Copenhagen, Denmark which won the title of “World’s Best Restaurant” at “The World's 50 Best Restaurants” award ceremony for four consecutive years. Despite being just 34 years old, both of the restaurants that he works at in Switzerland have been awarded with two Michelin stars. His ability to skillfully combine seasonal ingredients with unique creativity to present passionate, respectful dishes has impressed countless people. To celebrate The Ritz-Carlton, Osaka’s 20th Anniversary, the hotel is inviting Chef Fliegauf to collaborate with The Ritz-Carlton, Osaka’s Executive Chef Conrado Tromp, for a special Gala Dinner on May 23rd, 2017. In addition, attendees to the dinner will be invited to enjoy a live jazz performance from jazz vocalist Ms. Yasuko Agawa, whose beautifully rich and expressive voice has captivated many fans. Leading Japanese big band Arrow Jazz Orchestra will also be performing.

  • Content: 8 course dinner with a selection of special wines and champagne

  • Price: 70,000 yen per person including tax and service charge 
    *Reservations limited to 80 guests on a first-come-first-served basis

Chef Rolf Fliegauf
Having previously worked at many high profile restaurants including Noma in Copenhagen, Denmark, and De Librije in the Netherlands, Chef Fliegauf now works at two restaurants in Switzerland. Both The Ecco Ascon and The Ecco St.Moritz have been awarded with two Michelin stars. He is famous for his ability to bring out the full potential of ingredients by carefully and respectfully combining them in creative ways.

It will be my first time visiting Japan as well, and therefore I am very excited to get to know the culture and cuisine first hand.”

The Ritz-Carlton, Osaka’s Executive Chef Conrado Tromp
Dutch chef Conrado Tromp took over as The Ritz-Carlton, Osaka’s Executive Chef in June 2016. He has worked at various top restaurants all over the world including Michelin star-winning restaurants in Switzerland, France, U.K., Germany, Maldives, Vietnam and Hong Kong. In 2014, he was awarded "Chef of the Year" in The Ritz-Carlton Asia Pacific region.

Jazz vocalist Yasuko Agawa
Hailing from Kamakura in Kanagawa, Yasuko Agawa studied drama at Bungakuza Theater Research Institute before appearing in movies Brilliant Clan, Seishun no Mori, and television drama Taiyo ni Hoero. Ms. Agawa began her transition into singing following an encounter with professional jazz clarinetist Shoji Suzuki, and has since captivated many fans with her beautifully rich and expressive voice.

Guests who make reservations for the Gala Dinner can receive the following special prices on stays at the hotel on the same day of the dinner.
