OSAKA, JAPAN, March 9, 2017, One of the most special times of year – the cherry blossom season - is upon us. A classic Japanese symbol of spring, cherry blossom viewing has been loved by the Japanese throughout history, acting as inspiration to countless artists and waka poets. These days, people across Japan get together during this season to have a picnic under the blooming cherry blossom, known as sakura, using the occasion to enjoy the finest seasonal foods and drinks. This year, The Ritz-Carlton, Osaka is offering a whole host of delectable seasonal treats, perfect for a memorable spring celebration with friends, family and loved ones.

From March 4 to April 10, The Ritz-Carlton Osaka’s Japanese restaurant Hanagatami is offering a luxurious Japanese bento box.  Bento are best enjoyed outdoors during spring, and the Ladies and Gentlemen of The Ritz-Carlton, Osaka, will be pleased to provide guests with a “Cherry Blossom Map”, guiding guests to all the best local cherry blossom spots in the vicinity of the hotel. One of Osaka’s best cherry blossom spots, Nakanoshima, is located just a 15-minute walk from the hotel. Intersected by the Dojima and Tosabori Rivers, this area is famous for the arches of cherry trees that line both sides of its footpaths.

After spending the day enjoying the sights of Osaka’s spectacular cherry, what better way to relax and unwind than an elegant afternoon tea? The Lobby Lounge at The Ritz-Carlton, Osaka, is serving a special Sakura Afternoon Tea to celebrate the cherry blossom season, available from March 16th to April 30. This seasonal afternoon tea features a selection of sweets and savories complete with cherry blossom motifs and seasonal drinks.

For cocktail lovers, The Bar on the fifth floor will also be getting in the spirit of spring, serving a special Satokotoba, or “country poem” cocktail, from March 1 to April 30. In addition, The Lobby Lounge on the first floor is serving four limited edition Sakura cocktails in a range of vivid spring colors, from March 1 to April 30.

Lastly, The Ritz-Carlton Gourmet Shop will be offering a range of spring-themed sweets and pastries, perfect for taking outside and enjoying under the cherry blossom friends and loved ones. Among the seasonal specialties, you can find sakura-flavored western desserts such as a sakura mousse with grapefruit jelly, a sakura Mont Blanc cake made with matcha mousse and white chocolate, topped with salted cherry blossom, and a stylish sakura verrine containing colorful layers of cherry blossom jelly, green tea mousse and cherry blossom an bean cream. There is also an array of traditional Japanese sweets on offer, including bean-filled dorayaki cakes with a unique sakura flavor, sweet sakura mochi rice cakes filled with mascarpone cream and an beans, and anpan bread filled with cherry blossom-flavored an beans.
