TOKYO, JAPAN, December 7, 2016:Home to many foreign embassies and trendy restaurants, high fashion and upscale retail, the Roppongi District is the vibrant center of downtown Tokyo. From its midst rises the Tokyo Midtown Tower, where The Ritz-Carlton, Tokyo serves as the ideal hotel base from which guests can explore this fascinating city, with easy access by subway to every part of Tokyo and beyond.
The Ritz-Carlton, Tokyo aims to delight our guests, welcoming them and hosting in the most stylish ways every day at the main lobby.
This year in particular, The Ritz-Carlton, Tokyo is pulling out all the stops to make Christmas a holiday to remember, by inviting legendary Italian fashion house Dolce & Gabbana to design a Christmas tree for the hotel’s Lobby Lounge & Bar to celebrate the festive season. The tree will be decorated with traditional Sicilian elements such as hand-crafted Sicilian puppets known as ‘pupi’, hand-painted Italian festive glass baubles and a bespoke multi-colored ‘luminarie’ framework created in Southern Italy. The tree was unveiled on December 1st in the main lobby next to The Bar on the 45th floor, with a heartwarming Christmas carol performance from a local elementary school choir.
“I am delighted to celebrate this festive season with a splendid Italian-style Christmas tree designed by Dolce and Gabbana. Please enjoy this glorious tree with your family and friends” said John Rolfs, Multi Property Vice President, The Ritz-Carlton Hotels in Japan & Korea, and General Manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Tokyo.
Guests enjoying the festive atmosphere are invited to stay and indulge in celebratory drinks at The Bar at The Ritz-Carlton, Tokyo, known as one of the most romantic places in Tokyo thanks to its intimate atmosphere and panoramic night views. The Bar was designed by up-and-coming kimono designer Jotaro Saito, who refers to the design of The Bar as “East Meets West”, which is visible in the beautiful Japanese traditional kimono motifs of cherry blossom and pine needles that decorate the bar. The bar counter also features eye-catching design; it appears as if floating in air as guests arrive from the bridge linking the entrance to The Bar.
Furthermore, guests are regularly delighted by the entertainment provided by the Ladies and Gentlemen at The Bar, such as the soothing jazz music by the live music band, exclusive finger food and personalized mixology cocktails as well as seasonal creations by the bartenders. One of the highlight cocktail menus for the season is the ‘Santa Cassata’, named after Cassata, a traditional sweet of Sicilia. The idea of having Sicilia as the inspiration for the cocktail comes from the fact that the decoration of the Dolce & Gabbana Christmas tree uses the region’s natural and cultural elements as its motifs. The cocktail also uses Sicily’s special produce, such as limoncello, almond and blood orange and is available at The Bar from December 8th until December 25th. A fine balance between the sweet and bitterness of the ingredients enhanced by Amaretto, citrus and the marshmallow garnish gives it an ideal taste and look for celebrating the season.
When you visit The Bar for a romantic occasion, be sure to ask for “the seats for lovers”. These seats are perfect for a private moment, as they look out onto the breathtaking night-view with a little bit of extra space away from the rest of the seats. If guests choose to keep their own private bottle at the bar, they are welcome to come and enjoy The Bar at any time without extra charge.
