Few people know that there is a local version of Valentine’s Day in Kazakhstan, on which Kazakhstani people celebrate the “Day of the Enamored” on 15 April to remind their other halves of their feelings and commitment. The holiday originated from the ancient legend of love between Kozy-Korpesh and Bayan-Sulu, which dates back to the 13th – 14th centuries. The father of Bayan, who is in love with Kozy, decides to make her marry Kodor, a local warrior. This leads to a conflict in which Kozy dies. Mourning the death of her beloved Kozy, Bayan deceives Kodor and cunningly kills him, taking revenge for Bayan’s death before stabbing herself with a dagger on Bayan’s grave.

The Ritz-Carlton, Almaty, which is considered by local residents as one of the most romantic places in the city, invites you to enjoy its indescribable atmosphere. The hotel’s romancologist, who has organized over 100 marriage proposals and over 1,000 romantic dates, will help you create the romantic weekend of your dreams.

LT Bar and Grill, located on the 28th floor of the hotel and offering an incredible evening view over the city, offers lovebirds special romantic set menus – Sweetheart, Heart Beat and Forever Love. Each menu combines house wine and unique dishes from Laurent Tourondel: a light selection of sushi, delicate black codfish from Alaska, Russian filet mignon from high quality Black Angus beef and a rich cake made of black chocolate with salted caramel, which together offer a diverse range of taste experiences and gastronomic pleasures.

The hotel’s “cupid” will also assist you in setting the romantic mood in your room, providing the best champagne, rose petals and deserts from master confectioner Vitaly Medvedev, as well as helping with any other requests. The windows open on to a view of the mountain slopes of Trans-Ili Alatau, offering peace and serenity with their snow-covered peaks even in summer.

In the Sky Lounge guests can enjoy a Kazakh tea ceremony with traditional food, giving them a sweet taste of Central Asian culture.
