CANCUN, QUINTANA ROO – APRIL 3, 2017 – The Ritz-Carlton, Cancun proudly announces that it has welcomed José Pech Mahla as the new chef of El Café Mexicano restaurant – the resort’s most popular restaurant, which offers breakfast and lunch with Mexican and international specialties.
A native of Yucatán, Mexico with more than 16 years of hospitality experience, the Chef Mahla joins The Ritz-Carlton, Cancun after serving as sous chef for 10 years at the Fairmont Mayakoba, where he contributed to all its restaurants with specialties such as Mexican, seafood, steaks, and banquets. Prior to that, Chef Mahla contributed to the success of diverse specialty restaurants within recognized hotel-industry chains.
Growing up in a family-oriented environment, Chef Mahla got his inspiration for cooking from his grandmother from whom he learned to cook authentic Mayan dishes when he was a child. Since then, Chef José incorporates local flavors and techniques to his creations, keeping always the roots of every dish but adding his personal touch incorporating local and international ingredients.
