Chef’s focus on traditional Mexican ingredients also reflects international influences
CANCUN, QUINTANA ROO – MARCH 27, 2017 - The Ritz-Carlton, Cancun proudly welcomes Mara Isabel Barba as Chef of the Culinary Center. In this position, Chef Barba will oversee all culinary operations for the hotel’s interactive dining outlet, including innovative cooking classes, a personalized nightly Chef’s Table, and culinary experiences highlighting regional and other favorite cuisines.
A native of the northern state of Sonora, Chef Barba brings a wealth of culinary knowledge and experience to Cancun’s leading resort and looks forward to further enhancing the Culinary Center’s acclaimed offerings. Her most recent position was at The Ritz-Carlton Dubai, UAE, where she served as Chef de Partie in La Baie Restaurant and gave additional support to the banquets division. Prior to her experience in Dubai, she obtained culinary experience at The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach and at restaurants in Latin-America and Europe, including Quique Dacosta Restaurant, a Michelin Three-Star restaurant in Alicante, Spain.
Chef Barba will be the first Mexican female to lead the Culinary Center. Her cooking style is influenced not only by her experience working in different countries, but also her passion for conveying the essence of Mexican food by focusing on the role traditional ingredients have played in its history.
