Los Cabos, Mexico (updated May 29, 2018) – Zadún, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, the latest bespoke resort in the prestigious Ritz-Carlton Reserve portfolio, set to open in early 2019, today announced the appointment of Sandra Estornell as General Manager. In her new position, the hospitality veteran will play a significant role in the resort’s continued development leading up to its much-anticipated debut.
In her more than 15 years with The Ritz-Carlton, Estornell has overseen a total of 17 openings. Hailing originally from Spain, Estornell most recently served as the General Manager of The Ritz- Carlton, Santiago, prior to which she held the position of Hotel Manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Vienna during its successful pre-opening and opening seasons. Estornell also brings experience as the Corporate Director of Global Rooms Operations for The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, where she helped propel the continued evolution of the room design concept and overall Ritz-Carlton experience. Previously, Estornell held various management positions within the organization at a number of properties including The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel; The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island; The Ritz-Carlton, Washington D.C.; The Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor Gulch; and Hotel Arts, Barcelona.
Estornell will translate her extensive opening experience to her new role at Zadún, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve. As General Manager, she will be fundamental in spearheading pre-opening efforts for the ultra-luxury resort, ensuring a seamless opening process once the resort makes its debut next year.
“Sandra embodies the leadership qualities that not only bring a property to life, but also inspire a team to deliver moments of genuine, heartfelt care and human connection,” said Laura Santoni, Area Vice President for Mexico, Marriott International. “As a longtime leader in luxury hotel management, Sandra will undoubtedly lead yet another inimitable Reserve experience at Zadún in Los Cabos. Moreover, as former Director of Global Rooms Operations for the brand, she has a global vision that will extend to the new property.”
Set along the dramatic coastline of San José del Cabo with panoramic views of the Sea of Cortez, Zadún, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve will draw inspiration from its locale with a striking design that celebrates the desert dunes and sea. Alongside elegantly appointed accommodations, the resort will offer bespoke spa and dining experiences, several pool areas, access to two championship golf courses, and exclusive amenities rooted in the local culture, history, and heritage.
