SOUTH BEACH, FLA. – NOVEMBER 30, 2015 – The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach is shaking things up by introducing the Kola Libre, which pays homage to the traditional Cuba Libre rum cocktail.
Invented circa 1900, during the Spanish-American War, the Cuba Libre became popular as a symbol of freedom. The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach Master Mixologists blend a full spectrum of flavors, using the tropical notes of aged-based rum with the bittersweet taste of herbs, citrus liqueur and top it all off with a splash of elderflower tonic. The craft cocktail transforms your palette while updating a Cuban tradition into an elegant experience that harmonizes with the South Beach culture.
“We are excited to introduce a Ritz-Carlton, South Beach spin of a local favorite. Traditionally made with the Kola Nut, we have played off of the drink’s history, and introduced new flavors to display the richness of Miami’s essence,” explained Director of Food and Beverage, Kanat Gruel.
The Kola Libre is available daily at the Lobby Lounge in the heart of the hotel, where master mixologists will take your taste buds on a historic journey to Old Havana.
