Doha, Qatar 2017 – Sharq Village & Spa, a Ritz-Carlton Hotel, embarks year-round on a series of activities to contribute, engage and inspire the community, through Community Footprints, The Ritz-Carlton program focused on child well-being; hunger and poverty relief; and environmental responsibility.
On previous Saturday, September 16th, 2017, the resort held the popular initiative, Swim for a Cause, an open water swimming challenge that contributes to provide safe and clean drinking water to those in need. The program, well known throughout the community, aims to raise awareness about environmental issues and encourages individuals to actively initiate change in societies around the globe.
Guests were invited to swim at the hotel’s private beach for distances ranging from 500 meters to 1 kilometer, and over 65 participants took part in the initiative, including members of the region’s largest spa, as well as Ladies & Gentlemen of the luxury hotel, and community supporters. The proceeds were donated towards increasing access to clean water in developing countries through the Qatar Charity Foundation. Partners of the community program include Six Senses Spa, H20 Swim Club, MAD Triathlon and TriClub Doha.
Asela Jayaweera, Recreation Manager of the hotel, expressed his sincere gratitude to all partners and participants. “At Sharq Village & Spa, we are committed to actively support our community and leave an imprint on them.
