Riyadh, KSA, April 30 2016- The Ritz-Carlton, Riyadh announced the appointment of Juraj Kalna as the new Executive Chef of the luxury property. In his new position, Chef Juraj will be at the helm of the culinary and stewarding teams, overseeing operations in all food and beverage outlets, including restaurants, lounges, in-room dining and banquet areas.
Originating from Slovakia Chef Juraj has over 20 years of culinary experience working in five-star hotels and resorts. In his previous role, Juraj led a team of 104 staff at The Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Guangzhou China. Chef Juraj also brings experience in managing standalone ultra-fine dining restaurants and catering companies, having led daily operations for the JW Steakhouse and Market Place Restaurant. He was also in charge of implementing Marriott standards for all 13 outlets at the JW Marriott Hotel Dubai, United Arab Emirates. From his 4 and half years working for the Royal Family of Dubai Chef Juraj has gained broad experience in catering Palatial style.
Chef Juraj has been recognized for his work through a number of awards, including Twice Chef of The Year winner at Saloon Culinaire in Dubai, Finalist of the Global Chef competition and over 30 Gold medals from all around the world in individual competitions. Over the course of his career, he has travelled and worked in over 60 countries. Together with other competition chefs created the UAE National Culinary Team, leading the team to win three silver medals in the region’s most prestigious competition of its kind - FHA Culinary Challenge in Singapore.
