Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, December, 2015 – The Ladies and Gentlemen of The Ritz-Carlton, Riyadh marked International Volunteer Day with activities ranging from donation drives to baking tutorials for children with disabilities. The activities are in support of IMPACT 2030, the global campaign created to mobilize corporate volunteers to contribute to achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company is the first Founding Partner of IMPACT 2030.
In partnership with Al Bir Association, the Ladies and Gentlemen organized a drive to collect winter garments, throughout the month of November, with the aim of donating to those in need. In addition, the team invited children from the Down Syndrome Charitable Association for a fun day at the hotel, starting with a Succeed Through Service cooking class, which taught them how to decorate cookies and cupcakes.
International Volunteer Day, celebrated annually on December 5, is an international observance designated by the United Nations since 1985. It offers an opportunity for volunteer organizations and individual volunteers to make visible their contributions to communities - at local, national and international levels - and provides a platform to applaud volunteers for their dedication and impact.
IMPACT 2030 is a global private sector led collaboration created to mobilize corporate volunteers to contribute to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
