This Autumn, the European resort welcomes one of Spain’s biggest talents, globally acclaimed Flamenco star, Sara Baras, to perform in its balmy clifftop setting under the celebrated clear skies of the island.

Sara Baras’s performance on the 14th October 2017, will headline an inaugural gala dinner to launch a new programme of events on Tenerife’s beautiful west coast. This passionate marriage of dance and cuisine will bring together two of Spain’s greatest exports, Baras who is widely known as one of the world’s greatest Flamenco dancers and eight Michelin star chef, Martin Berasategui, who has made The Ritz-Carlton, Abama home to two restaurants including the globally renowned two-star M.B. and recently launched Txoko.

As director, choreographer and principle dancer at Ballet Flamenco, a company that she established 20 years ago, Sara Baras, has performed Flamenco since she was a child in Cadiz in the 1970’s. The daughter of a dancer and dance school owner, Baras has spent her lifetime developing and perfecting this most traditional of all Spanish dances in homage to her homeland. Regularly selling out shows around the world, this intimate performance at The Ritz-Carlton, Abama in October is a unique opportunity to experience Baras’s emotive, high-energy performance.

The gala dinner will offer a menu curated by chef Martin Berasategui from the resort’s M.B. restaurant and will comprise show-stopping dishes characterised by the chef’s trademark stamps of creativity, invention, profound understanding of flavour and deep respect for ingredients. Guests will enjoy Berasategui’s inspired interpretations of gourmet cuisine which have made him a household name throughout Spain and the rest of the world.

Holding creative ownership of M.B., the elegant ocean-facing outpost at The Ritz-Carlton, Abama, Berasategui achieved his first Michelin star for the restaurant in the 2010 Michelin Guide for Spain and Portugal and a second in 2014. With Executive Chef Erlantz Gorostiza at the helm, M.B. offers  a winning combination. Gorostiza trained with Berasategui at the chef’s Restaurante Lasarte and brings exceptional culinary style and standards adding his own innovative twists to the menu.
